It may surprise you to learn that many K-dramas have quite predictable plots, but they do. When the two lovers meet, their personalities clash, but they still end up deeply in love with each other. But what happens if you can’t guess the plot and the finish is a blur? K-dramas often feature unexpected twists and turns, such as unexpected pregnancy, a mysterious coupling, or uncontrollable love cells.
You can’t help but be interested in these K-dramas when they contain shocking plot changes like the ones described. The primary coupling could end up being a complete shock! We have made a list of five Korean dramas with romantic plots that are both interesting and unpredictable.
Woori The Virgin
The young woman, who happens to be a virgin, discovers she is pregnant at a routine checkup. Oh, Woo Ri (I’m Soo Hyang) was conceived by artificial insemination, and her baby’s father is the CEO of a beauty products company. It’s a catastrophe for her simple romantic life! How will she handle things with CEO Raphael (Sung Hoon) and her charming boyfriend Lee Kang Jae (Shin Dong Wook) now that she is pregnant?

As things progress, we learn that Oh Woo Ri and Raphael share a history that could put her happy relationship with her lover in jeopardy. The idea that they would have a biological child together adds another layer of complexity to any potential connection with Raphael, on top of his affection for her and his tumultuous divorce. Based on the American smash hit “Jane the Virgin,” this Korean drama follows a heroine who has one season to accomplish what she needs to in the original version.
Oh, Woo Ri is pregnant, and she must tell her family and friends, as well as determine whether or not she wants to raise her child alone or with one of the guys in her life. Through the course of the drama, viewers are left guessing which of Oh Woo Ri’s potential fathers is the most suitable man to raise their child. You can’t help but wonder if the K-drama will differ from the American series’ last episode and which man truly has her family’s best interests at heart.

This romantic comedy sets itself apart from other K-dramas by making it clear early on that the identities of the lead pair would remain hidden until the very end. Included in the primary cast are Seo In Guk, Jung Eun Ji, Lee Ho Won, Eun Ji Won, and Shin So Yul. Yoon Yoon Jae (Seo In Guk) and Sung Shi Won (Jung Eun Ji) are lifelong best friends, while Kang Joon Hee (Lee Ho Won) is pals with Yoon Yoon Jae.
Meanwhile, Mo Yoo Jung (Shin So Yul) harbors feelings for Do Hak Chan (a reticent transfer student) (Eun Ji Won). Because they share a high school, it’s natural for feelings to develop between them. In the premiere, the friends from high school come together to talk about their lives since graduation. Every episode teases us with the possibility of romantic tensions among the pals.

but we have no way of knowing who is already married. Since they share a high school, developing feelings for one another comes naturally. Adding to the hilarity is the fact that Sung Shi Won is a die-hard K-pop fan with a mad crush on a member of H.O.T. She may end up marrying a famous person or one of her friends, but we never find out which one until the very end of the drama.
Yumi Cells
Kim Yumi (Kim Go Eun), based on Lee Dong Gun’s webcomic of the same name, is just your typical office worker. The only thing that sets her apart from the rest is that she has completely cut herself off from the possibility of ever feeling the love. Also, her love cell is now clinically inactive. Her other active cells in this fantasy romance series are determined to revive her love cell. Kim Yumi’s love cells begin to activate after she meets Goo Woong, an emotionally stunted game developer played by Ahn Bo Hyun.

As the film progresses, “Yumi Cells” successfully keeps our interest by allowing us to witness Kim Yumi’s fluctuating feelings towards the film’s male protagonist. Their relationship status is a mystery to the audience. The two main characters in a typical Korean drama would either end up together or apart at the show’s conclusion. However, the show chooses to reflect reality by showing them dating and then growing apart.
Drama High
What happens in a K-drama when you combine a bunch of great singers and actors? You receive the greatest musical TV show ever made! This youth drama features Kim Soo Hyun, IU, Suzy, Ham Eun Jung, 2 PM Taecyeon and Wooyoung, and Park Jin Young, among others. In “Dream High,” a group of high school students goes to a school dedicated to the performing arts. The opportunity to make their first appearance as professional musicians during their school years is a real possibility.

To prepare for their debut, the students practice singing, dancing, and songwriting intensively for talent scouts from entertainment agencies who attend their shows. Go Hye Mi (Suzy), Hyun Shi Hyuk (Taecyeon), and Song Sam Dong (Sung Dong) are the love interests of the show (Kim Soo Hyun). Go Hye Mi and Shi Hyuk have great chemistry from the start; their nervousness and strong eye contact are classic K-drama teen drama tropes.
But when Song Sam Dong talks frankly and openly with Go Hye Mi about how he feels, it shifts her perspective. The drama does a wonderful job of maintaining suspense throughout, especially around the love triangle and who will break into show business.
A Case Of The Cheese In The Trap
Three actors, Park Hae Jin as Hong Seol, Kim Go Eun as Yoo Jung, and Seo Kang Joon as Baek In Ho, adapt their roles from the hit webtoon. As students at the same university, Hong Seol and Yoo Jung inevitably meet paths in various social and academic contexts. As Hong Seol is shy, Yoo Jung’s reticent demeanor throws him for a loop and causes him to experience anxiety.
Nevertheless, he eventually comes around to her and the two start dating. Then one day, Hong Seol’s classmate Baek In Ho appears and quickly becomes a trusted buddy and confidant. He’s quite forthright and honest in his character. Due to Yoo Jung’s enigmatic nature, the drama’s happy ending for Hong Seol, who falls into a love triangle with Yoo Jung and Baek In Ho, appears impossible.
He acts cordial toward her, but then turns around and is cruel to his friends. And yet, Baek In Ho seems perfectly trustworthy, even as he cautions her about the shadowy side of Yoo Jung, leaving her romantic future uncertain as the story progresses.
