It won’t be long before the Scream franchise’s upcoming film arrives. Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett shared the directing duties. Both collaborated on the most recent Scream (2022) movie and earlier efforts like Ready or Not. James Vanderbilt and Gary Busick wrote the upcoming film Scream VI, which is based on characters created by Kevin Williamson.
On Ready or Not and the first Scream film, the authors also worked with Bettinelli-Olpin and Gillett; Vanderbilt made a brief cameo as the demon Mr. LeBail. The new Scream movie is being made by the production companies Spyglass Media Group, Project X Entertainment, and Radio Silence Productions.
William Sherak, James Vanderbilt, and Paul Neinstein, all listed as producers on the first Scream, are producing it. This article may teach you everything about the most recent Scream movie.
Scream 6 Release Date
The current release date for Scream 6 is March 31st, 2023. This indicates that the film will hit theaters more than 14 months after the last Scream debuted on January 14, 2022. The existence of a new Scream film was announced by Paramount and Spyglass in February 2022, with the following details:

Scream 6 Plot
One of the first horror films to offer a “meta” experience was the original Scream from 1996, in which the main protagonists were aware of typical horror movie clichés and tropes. In addition to providing comedic relief at times, this allowed the protagonists to (at least attempt to) make more intelligent choices as they sought to identify and apprehend the Ghostface killer.
The characters once more make use of their familiarity with horror film clichés in the fifth installment of the Scream franchise, Scream 2022, without giving away any major spoilers. They quickly conclude that the new killer is committing “requels” or “legacy-quels” of the fictional Stab movies from earlier episodes, picking victims who are somehow connected to the characters from the original.
It essentially consists of “whole new characters being backed by legacy characters,” to use Mindy Meeks-(Jasmin Martin’s Savoy Brown) words. The surviving Carpenter sisters Sam and Tara, as well as the twins Mindy and Chad Meeks-Martin, will go to New York City to flee Woodboro and its sinister past in Scream VI, which will begin just where Scream (2022) left off.
They intend to start over in a different city, but when a new Ghostface begins murdering people nearby, they are abruptly drawn into another meta-slasher-whodunnit scenario. Fewer story specifics enhance the viewing experience, just like in other recent “whodunnit” films like Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery.
The cast members are the only reliable sources of information that we have. Who among the “legacy” characters and fresh faces will be identified as the new murderer?

Scream 6 Cast
Any Scream movie’s cast is guaranteed to be an ensemble, so to make things a little simpler, we’ll categorize them into “new(ish)” characters, “heritage” characters, and wholly new characters.
As Tara Carpenter, Jenna Ortega will return. The Babysitter: Killer Queen, Studio 666, and Ti West’s A24 thriller, X, have recently made the eponymous star of Tim Burton’s Wednesday series the newest inductee into the “Scream Queen” hall of fame.
As Sam Carpenter, Tara’s older sister, Melissa Barrera, will make another appearance in Scream VI. She could be both a culprit and a victim in the newest movie due to her contentious family history from the 2022 movie. Besides the most recent Scream film, Barrera’s most well-known performance was as Liv Rivera in the television miniseries Keep Breathing.
Alongside Anthony Ramos, best known for playing Hamilton on Broadway, she also played Vanessa in the musical In The Heights. Alongside the Carpenter sisters in New York City, Jasmin Savoy Brown and Mason Gooding will return as identical twins Mindy and Chad Meeks-Martin.
They also share a blood relationship with one of the terrible victims from the first movie as, Randy Meek’s (Jamie Kennedy) niece and nephew. Gooding is most recognized for his role as Andrew in the TV show Love, Victor. The television series Yellowjackets, which will start its second season in late March 2023 on Showtime, is best known for featuring Jasmin Savoy Brown as the teenage Taissa.

The only Scream series character to appear in each film is Gale Weathers, who Courtney Cox still plays. Before teaming forces with Sydney Prescott and falling in (and out of) love with David Arquette’s Dewey character in Scream, the Friends star first appeared as a secondary adversary.
Hayden Panettiere, another alum of the Scream franchise, will reprise her role as Kirby Reed. It wasn’t until 2022 Scream that an Easter Egg surprise revealed that Panettiere’s character in Scream 4 had survived that her status as an unconfirmed victim was changed. She was photographed on site with Jasmin Savoy Brown on August 6th, just before Scream VI’s filming ended, confirming her character’s reappearance.
The following actors will be introduced as new friends (or foes) from New York City as Alison, David, Carly, and Gabe, respectively: Devyn Nekoda (Sneakerella), Josh Segarra (She-Hulk: Attorney at Law), Liana Liberato (If I Stay), Jack Champion (Avatar: The Way of Water), and Tony Revolori (Spider-Man: No Way Home).
It’s not yet known what parts these characters will play in the most recent Scream movie, but they will be joined by Ready or Not’s lead actress, Samara Weaving. Weaving’s involvement is mysterious because her role has not yet been named.
Dermot Mulroney (My Best Friend’s Wedding) will join the cast as police officer Williams, presumably replacing Dewey Riley, in addition to these new roles. Henry Czerny, a Canadian actor who will portray the part of “Professor Freddie,” will be with him. In the previous movie Ready or Not, directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, Czerny played the character Tony.
Last but not least, Roger L. Jackson will portray the Ghostface killer in the film. Since the 1996 original, Jackson has provided the voice of the masked killer for every Scream-related production, including the 2019 spinoff television series Scream: Resurrection.
