Over four months have passed since the K-pop female group Fifty Fifty rose to prominence with their hit single “Cupid”, but the group’s future remains uncertain.
Despite the fact that Fifty Fifty’s management announced in May that the group would release an album in the near future, a number of obstacles that have emerged since then appear to be impeding the group’s progress.
Attrakt, Fifty Fifty’s agency, issued a press release on Monday indicating that a third party attempted to recruit the band’s members. The agency asserted, demanding an explanation from Warner Music Korea:
“We found evidence that a subcontracted outsourcing company approached Warner Music Korea to sell off Attrakt’s girl group Fifty Fifty.”
The agency reported on Friday that an unidentified “outside force” attempted to persuade the group’s artists to violate their exclusive contract. Attrakt said:
“We are outraged by this illegal attempt to steal a miracle created by a small and powerless agency like us. We will make sure to hold them legally accountable.”
Monday’s press release from Warner Music Korea, which has served as the group’s global distributor since April, refuted the allegations. Warner Music Korea said in November of last year:
“We have made every effort to provide our capabilities and network to enhance the remarkable achievements attained by Fifty Fifty and its agency. However, we are deeply disappointed by the unsavory allegations that have been raised.”
Attrakt is a 2021-founded newcomer label, and Fifty Fifty is the label’s first and only idol group to date. The rookie was successful in making the group’s first single, “The Beginning: Cupid’s” title track, “Cupid,” go viral on TikTok in order to target a global audience rather than local admirers.

The single established a new record for the most extended entry of 13 consecutive weeks by a K-pop female group on both charts. A member of Attrakt recently underwent surgery for a health concern, and her doctor has advised her to take a one- to two-month break from performing.
The agency did not provide any additional information regarding which member of the group was enduring health problems or what she had been diagnosed with.
