Online viewers of this year’s “SBS Gayo Daejeon” are furious with the show’s technical production. Several idol groups, such as NCT, The Boyz, and Stray Kids, were affected by the many technological issues that occurred during this year’s ‘SBS Gayo Daejeon,’ and netizens are expressing their dissatisfaction on an online forum.
The accidents varied from Ten of NCT almost hurting himself on a poorly illuminated stage after tripping over an open lift pit to a NewJeans song playing unexpectedly during Stray Kids’ set. Particularly frustrating for fans was the fact that Juyeon of The Boyz had a solo dance routine, but the camera cut to a random 4-second shot of the audience instead, missing a big chunk of her performance.
The difficult one-handed cartwheel that was part of Juyeon’s dancing routine was cut from the live broadcast. Fans claim that Juyeon had previously admitted his anxiety over the performance on ‘Bubble’ in the days leading up to the event, saying, “Ah, today I am a bit nervous,” which revealed his own preparation and excitement for the broadcast.

The camerawork during Juyeon’s performance was obviously a major production mistake, with subjects that were either out of focus or poorly lit. Fellow On ‘Bubble,’ Boyz member Eric subtly conveyed comparable feelings with the sentences:
“Did you watch our performance? Mm…I have the same thoughts. I have a lot to say but I won’t say it. […] I mean… that part was the coolest part of our Juyeon hyung’s five LED rope performance… T_T.”
Fans were furious with the camerawork during the boy group’s performance, even if the video of the NewJeans song accident during Stray Kids’ performance was later removed from the internet. Below you can see a brief shot of the stage being empty as Stray Kids performed in a separate section of the auditorium. At SBS Gayo Daejeon aespa also experienced an incident relating to a fan attacking the members.
According to viewers, “this was their first time airing a live end-of-year music show,” describing the lighting and camera direction of ‘SBS Gayo Daejeon’ as “poorly done.” Someone once said, “A rehearsal for this show turned out to be pointless,” referring to the numerous errors that happened, and that the production was “amateur,” “utterly disastrous,” and “legendary” according to their criteria.
