Kim Taehyung, better known as V of BTS, completed the second portion of his training at the Army Administrative School on February 7, 2024. The hero’s rigorous three-week preparation for deployment with the Special Duty Team (SDT) began on January 18.
He learned everything from automatic target live ammunition training to rappelling, military police service, close-quarters combat, and more at the anti-terrorism training facility.
V, having completed the program—famous for its late-night training sessions—is prepared to begin his last posting at the SDT camp on February 8.
Along with BTS leader RM, Taehyung had already finished basic military training at the Nonsan Training Center on January 16. The two were recognized as two of the six graduating Elite Soldiers for their outstanding performance.
Word got out on January 31 that BTS’ V would be joining the Special Mission Task Force, also known as the SDT, for ROK II Corps, also known as 2nd Army Corps. Chuncheon, Gangwon Province is where the actual unit is situated.
They congratulated their idol as he left for the same:

Looking at the 2nd Corps ‘Ssangyong Unit’ Where BTS’ V will Serve
Beloved as the “Double Dragons” by the 2nd Corps ‘Ssangyong Unit’, this border area is the most infamous military demarcation line in the army. It is well-known for both the difficult terrain and the fact that many soldiers had to endure its rigorous training routine. Also, II Corps uses Offensive Force plus GOC (Ground Operations Command).
The mission of Ground Operations Command is to defend the Military Demarcation Line from any potential dangers. Meanwhile, a forceful military action aimed at the enemy is what Offensive Force is all about.
Either fighting the enemy or convincing them to back down is their mission. The Mid-East Front, a route leading to Seoul, is also protected by the Corps.
Fans have shared their reactions and wishes to BTS V on X:
My angel, be safe. I can only imagine how much effort and at the same time commitment you are putting into all this. I’m always proud of you. I always keep you, totally, in my thoughts. My universe 💚 https://t.co/1e1DHtE290

Getting to BTS’s V’s, which is located in a valley between Twin Dragons, two towering peaks, is no easy feat due to the rugged landscape. Consequently, the unit is likewise compact.

In addition, the unit led by the Rainy Days singer is positioned to provide full armed guard duties along the fences that border the north, which are equipped with many stairways. No one wants to be stationed there because the job is so difficult due to the clumsy arms and gears and the stairs.
V of BTS recently made an appearance in the music video for “Love Wins All” by IU, where his acting chops were on full display. Additionally, his solo album Layover became the second-fastest K-pop solo album to reach 1.115 billion streams on Spotify, and the fastest Korean-language album overall.
