After covering SHINee Taemin’s popular song “Guilty,” OnlyOneOf’s Nine has surprisingly become embroiled in controversy. During OnlyOneOf’s most recent concert in Seoul, Nine performed a rendition of the song that featured his own vocals and a dance routine that had gone viral.
As a result of its massive success on TikTok and in live performances, “Guilty” has become a favorite cover among rising idols. This is hardly surprising, considering the difficult choreography and vocal challenges of Taemin’s songs, which have long been beloved by idols for cover versions.

Still, some of Taemin’s admirers were not happy with Nine’s cover. There was some dispute over who sang the cover because some SHINee fans claimed the OnlyOneOf member was disrespecting Taemin by utilizing a rendition of the song that wasn’t done by Taemin or himself.
In addition, several viewers were uneasy about the “overs*xualization” of the dance moves from the original. This severe critique set off a wave of reactions directed towards Nine, leading to a discussion among followers who were either condemning him or protecting the idol.
Apologizing to his fans and the audience at large, Nine took to Bubble after apparently seeing the internet discussions and anger. The star expressed his profound appreciation for Taemin and his work in a message that was simultaneously filled with disappointment and upset.
