RIIZE’s Sungchan Overwhelmed With Emotion As He Speaks On Becoming Permanent Groupmates With Shotaro At Concert
During the recent fan-con held by RIIZE, Sungchan was clearly touched. RIIZING DAY, the second day of RIIZE’s fan-con tour, lit up Seoul on May 5. Each performer took time as the evening came to an end to offer their sincere reflections on attending their very first independent concert with their loyal fans.
When it was Sungchan’s turn, he opened up about his feelings before making his debut with RIIZE. Tears filled his eyes as he expressed how happy he was to be joining Shotaro on a permanent basis.
Prior to becoming RIIZE members, Sungchan and Shotaro were first presented as NCT members, undergoing a three-year promotional period spanning from October 2020 to May 2023. Their contributions to NCT U were restricted to a few tracks only.
Sungchan’s statement, captured in a fan-shot video shown in the tweet below, struck everyone’s attention: “I’ve always dreamt of performing at our own concert. To have this special moment just for us fills me with immense happiness. All I’ve ever wanted is to be part of my own team.”

Sungchan went on, fighting back the tears, “Having our own group is something I’ve always wished for. Shotaro and I would talk about it during meals. Being able to promote with my own team brings me so much happiness and gratitude. I’m incredibly thankful to everyone for filling every seat in this concert hall. […] When Sohee talked about his family, that also moved me to tears.”
Fans could be heard sobbing with Sungchan in the heartfelt video as they offered words of love and encouragement.
