2 PM’s Taecyeon is set to play the gay lead in the upcoming Japanese Netflix drama ‘Soul Mate’. On June 27, Netflix released a teaser image with the message, “Traversing the cities of Berlin, Seoul, and Tokyo, the series tells a 10-year-long love story between two men. From writer and director Shunki Hashizume (‘Scroll’, ‘More Than Words’).”
Taecyeon will star alongside veteran Japanese actor Hayato Isomura, known for his roles in ‘Alice in Borderland’, ‘Kinou Nani Tabeta?’, ‘Kamen Rider Ghost’, and more.

Taecyeon will portray Johan, a boxer who avoids confronting his emotional wounds, while Isomura will play Ryu, who has left his life behind in Japan. After Johan saves Ryu’s life, the two men experience profound changes as they explore the meaning of love.
Taecyeon shared his enthusiasm for the project, saying, “I am very happy to appear in the drama ‘Soul Mate’. I wanted to discover a new side of myself by expanding my range with different characters and genres. When I received the offer for ‘Soul Mate’, I was curious about the character Hwang Johan, and after reading the script, I was deeply moved by Johan’s underlying deficiencies and pains, which led me to choose this role. I have been dieting and training in boxing since before filming and continue to do so, putting in great effort to portray Johan authentically. I hope viewers will anticipate and wait with excitement as well.”
