SM Entertainment Face Criticism Due To Aespa Upcoming English Album

In light of the recent announcement of a full-length English album from the popular K-pop girl group Aespa, SM Entertainment, one of South Korea’s most prominent entertainment labels, has come under fire.

As part of the label’s presentation of their projects for the first quarter of 2024, this plan was revealed, prompting a rush of responses from both fans and detractors.

What’s in Store for SM Entertainment in 2024?

The 2024 goals of SM Entertainment’s label have been made public. Below are previews of SM Entertainment’s music and concert lineups for the first three months of 2019. The preview lists the following releases: mini-albums from Suho, Wendy, NCT Dream, Taeyong, and Ten; singles from NCT NEW TEAM, hyo, Aespa, and RIIZE; Japanese singles from RIIZE and NCT NEW TEAM; and a full English album from Aespa.

Yesung is performing a solo concert in the Philippines and Macao; SHINee will be touring Asia; Key will be performing in Korea; NCT 127 will be touring Asia; SMTOWN will be touring Japan; TVXQ! will be touring Asia; and Taemin will be touring Japan.

But SM Entertainment is getting some flak for letting Aespa release a full English album. Fans are upset that despite Aespa’s debut in 2020, they still haven’t published a full-length Korean album.

Korean fans were quick to voice their opposition to the strategy. The prominent idol group, who debuted in 2020, has been criticized for not releasing a full-length album in Korean. On Twitter, several customers vented their frustration at the label’s decision not to release a full-length Korean album.
