The musical’s opening night, November 27, was greeted with a red carpet-event. See the KPOP cast and creative team as they prepare for opening night on Broadway. The musical’s debut at Circle in the Square Theatre has been pushed back from November 20 to November 27. Previews started on October 13.
Bringing K-pop and Korean culture to Broadway, KPOP chronicles the American premiere of the fictional K-pop music company RBY as a documentary filmmaker captures performances and insights into the label’s superstars: solo artist MwE, girl group RTMIS, and boy band F8.

The filmmaker decides to delve further as MwE goes through tough times and the members of RTMIS and F8 go through difficulties of their own. Can we expect a successful first performance in the United States? Girls’ group RTMIS (pronounced Artemis) has Luna as a solo artist MWe and Min, Kate Mina Lin, BoHyung, Julia Abueva, and Amy Keum.
John Yi, Kevin Woo, Eddy Lee, Joshua Lee, Abraham Lim, James Kho, Jiho Kang, and Zachary Noah Piser star as the members of the boy band F8 (pronounced fate). All four of Luna, Min, BoHyung, and Woo—before they hit the Broadway stage—have established themselves as successful K-pop performers in their own right.
The rest of the cast includes Marina Kondo, Lina Rose Lee, Timothy H. Lee, and Patrick Park, as well as Aubie Merrylees, Jully Lee, Major Curda, and Jinwoo Jung. Choreographer Jennifer Weber, music director Sujin Kim-Ramsey, and set designer Gabriel Hainer Evansohn.
Costume designers Clint Ramos and Sophia Choi, lighting designer Jiyoun Chang, sound designers Peter Fitzgerald and Andrew Keister, projection designer Peter Nigrini, hair and wig designer Mia M. Neal, and makeup artist Suki Tsujimoto all contribute to the production, which is directed by Teddy Bergman.
