AMAs K-Pop Award Goes to BTS for Favorite K-Pop Artist At the 2022 American Music Awards, BTS became the first Korean group to win a major award. When BTS won the award for Favorite K-Pop Artist on Sunday night, it was the first time the ceremony had ever given out a specific prize for Korean pop music.
Having won in Favorite Artist and Pop/Rock before, the group’s new honour ensures that their genre will always have a home at the AMAs. This is the group’s fourth consecutive victory in the Favorite Pop Duo/Group category.
The K-Pop group BTS has been nominated for two GRAMMYs in 2023 while they are on break to complete their necessary military service and pursue separate projects. With “Yet to Come,” the group—comprised of RM, V, Jin, Jungkook, Jimin, Suga, and J-Hope—has earned their first nomination for a song performed primarily in Korean.
In addition to their most recent greatest hits collection, Proof, a single was also issued. Competing with the likes of Adele, Doja Cat, Harry Styles, Kendrick Lamar, and Taylor Swift is a daunting task for BTS. BTS’s “My Universe” collaboration with Coldplay earned them a nomination for Best Pop/Duo Group.

Camila Cabello and Ed Sheeran, Post Malone and Doja Cat, Sam Smith and Kim Petras, and BTS all pose a threat to Chris Martin and the rest of the gang. The “Permission to Dance” duo has been nominated for Best Pop/Duo Group for the past three years in a row. Both “Butter” (2022) and “Dynamite” (2021) earned BTS nominations.

The band also performed during the ceremony last year. They were also nominated for a Grammy for their work on Coldplay’s Music of the Spheres, which was up for Best Pop Vocal Album and Album of the Year.
