Apple is planning to introduce OLED display technology to more iPad models, with the iPad Air likely to get it in 2028.
This follows the upcoming OLED iPad Pro. There’s also talk about Apple possibly creating a foldable device with OLED technology.
Advantages of Two-Stack Tandem OLED Design
The new design for OLED displays, called two-stack tandem OLED, is expected to be used in the iPad Pro.
This design stacks two light-emitting layers together, providing the same brightness as the current single-stack design but using less power and lasting longer. Currently, iPhones use the single-stack OLED display.

Updated Forecast from Omdia
Research firm Omdia revised its earlier forecast, which suggested that Apple would release 8.3-inch iPad mini and 10.8-inch iPad Air models with OLED displays in 2026.
Now, they’re considering the possibility of Apple launching a 7- to 8-inch OLED foldable device that could replace the iPad mini.
What’s Coming Next from Apple?
Apple is expected to announce the next generation of OLED iPad Pro models very soon.
These models might have a thinner design, an M3 chip, better cameras, MagSafe wireless charging, and a redesigned Magic Keyboard accessory to make the iPad Pro more like a laptop.
Non-OLED iPad Air Models
In addition to OLED iPads, Apple is also working on two non-OLED versions of the iPad Air in 10.9 and 12.9-inch sizes, similar to the iPad Pro.
These models could be introduced as early as late March, along with the new OLED iPad Pro models.
Investment in OLED Technology
As Apple continues to invest in OLED technology for its tablet lineup, consumers can expect better display quality, less power consumption, and possibly new device designs in the years to come.
