BTS Jin is About to Enlist in South Korean Military Service. On Friday, a person with knowledge of the issue confirmed that K-pop superstar Jin will begin his mandatory military service the following month after the BTS singer pleaded with the group’s committed fans to avoid his South Korean army training camp.
According to the source, the 29-year-old star and oldest member of BTS will report to the Yeoncheon army base in the province of Gyeonggi in the north on December 13. In South Korea, practically all able-bodied men must serve in the armed forces for a minimum of 18 months before turning 28 years old.

A law postponing mandatory military duty until age 30 was passed by the South Korean government in 2020 for people who “excel in popular culture and art.” It is a common procedure for new recruits like Jin to undergo a five-week basic training course before being assigned to a unit. The change was widely anticipated.
Jin, who turns 30 on December 4, will be the first member of BTS to enlist, according to the band’s record label, which made the announcement last month. Jin wrote a message on the fan community app Weverse on Thursday warning his admirers not to show up at the military base in an attempt to catch sight of him before he enlists.

He did not refute the claims made in the article. The training centre is off-limits to “ARMYs” (BTS fans), he wrote, despite his wishes. There will be a lot of people there besides me, and that may be risky. I’m in love with the ARMY.

BTS has been likened to The Beatles on numerous occasions, and the group even surpassed one of the English rock band’s achievements by achieving three consecutive No. 1 albums on the Billboard 200 chart in a single calendar year.

In 2019, when the group was overlooked for Grammy nominations, their passionate fan base, who they refer to as the “BTS Army,” propelled their music and defended them on social media. In the year 2023, they have been nominated for three Grammys.
