On September 12, 1994, Kim Nam-joon was born in the Dongjak District of Seoul, South Korea; however, he spent the majority of his childhood in the Ilsan District of Goyang after his family relocated there when he was around four or five years old.

He is the older sibling of his sister. RM’s mother was a native English speaker, and the two of them learnt the language together by watching the American comedy Friends when he was a child. He was a prolific poet in school and won several accolades for his work.

For about a year, he had his poetry up on a website where it gained a fair amount of attention. Because of this, RM considered a career in writing but ultimately opted against it. Twelve-year-old him spent four academic months in the Land of the Long White Cloud.

“Bicycle,” the debut single from BTS member RM, debuted at No. 2 on the global iTunes song chart and at No. 10 in Europe. Additionally, as of 30 November KST, the album was ranked No. 1 on the iTunes ‘Top Songs’ chart in 26 different nations.

RM created and recorded “Bicycle,” which was made public last year on the international music-sharing website SoundCloud. In the meantime, on December 2, RM will release Indigo, his much-anticipated debut solo album.
