At the 31st Hanteo Music Awards 2023, Kim Taehyung, better known as V from BTS, won three prizes!
Dongdaemun Design Plaza in Seoul was the site of the 31st Hanteo Music Awards’ second night of ceremonies on February 18. The Hanteo Chart served as the primary basis for the award, which recognized the top artists and music releases from January to December 2023.

One of the recipients of the “Main Prize (Bonsang)” was Taehyung, who was named “Artist of the Year.” The announcement from the Hanteo Music Awards emphasized Taehyung’s record-breaking album sales, saying:
“The first K-pop solo artist (V) to surpass 2 million first-time sales, an artist who captivated listeners around the world with his differentiated sensibility and fascinating vocals.”
Just last month, Taehyung took home the ‘Main Prize (Bonsang)’ at the 33rd Seoul Music Awards, and now he has won it again this year. Taehyung was also named the best artist from Europe and Africa, two of the six continents recognized by the ‘Global Artist’ awards.

‘Layover,’ Taehyung’s first EP, became the first solo artist’s album to sell more than 2 million copies on the Hanteo and Circle (Gaon) charts after its September 2023 premiere.
Moreover, he broke the 2-million-copy sales barrier, which has not been broken by a K-pop solo artist since 2000—a gap of 23 years. On top of that, Taehyung made history by becoming the first solo artist to ever top the Hanteo Chart in not one, but three countries: Taiwan, Japan, and China.
