V (Kim Taehyung) of BTS has recently dropped a digital single titled “FRI(END)S.” With his deep, soulful vocals that smoothly move between low and high tones, Taehyung demonstrates his talents in this pop-soul R&B ballad, which incorporates a moving confession.
The ingenious wordplay of the title—’END’ bracketed in the word ‘FRIENDS’—hints at a deeper level of a prolonged friendship and the desire to “put the ‘end’ in friends” in the song’s brilliant lyrics.
With its debut at the top of YouTube’s daily Global Top Music Videos chart, “FRI(END)S” quickly rose to the position of the most popular music video on the site.
FRI(END)S by V has debuted at #3 on The Official Big Top 40, UK’s Biggest Chart Show, with only 2 days of tracking!

Samuel Bradley, a famous British photographer and director, directed the music video, which includes elements that make the viewer feel both surprised and empathic. It departs from the usual plot points of a friendship turning into a romantic relationship.
British actress Ruby Sear, who rose to fame on Netflix’s “The Gentlemen,” appears in the music video as Taehyung’s romantic interest. The filmmaker has stated that “the video depicts V as a conflicted protagonist experiencing love from two different perspectives”—one as a lone person and the other as part of couple.
