Las Vegas Police Arrest Former NBA G League Player and Girlfriend for Killing and Kidnapping Missing Woman
On Sunday, authorities announced that Chance Comanche, a former NBA G League player for the Stockton Kings, and his girlfriend had been apprehended and charged in relation to the abduction and murder of a woman whose body was discovered in a desert area close to Las Vegas.
Comanche, 27, and Sakari Harnden, 19, were initially taken into custody last week on charges of abduction of Harnden’s acquaintance Marayna Rodgers. However, following the discovery of Rodgers’ body, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department announced in a press release on Sunday that they are now being investigated for murder.
Comanche was let go by the Kings on Friday. The Kings are an affiliate of the Sacramento Kings. The police said that Rodgers had planned to meet with Harnden and Comanche, but she was reported missing on December 7, two days after her last sighting with friends.
“Detectives suspected foul play and obtained evidence to arrest Harnden and her boyfriend Comanche for their role in the kidnapping and disappearance of Rodgers,” police said, adding that the investigation began with the suspicion of foul play.
Following the arrests, details were uncovered that led investigators to locate Rodgers’ body in a desert region of Henderson, approximately 20 miles southeast of Las Vegas, as reported by the police. According to the police, Harnden and Comanche “were responsible for the murder of Rodgers” after their investigation was concluded.

In addition to the kidnapping charge, Harnden has subsequently been charged with two felonies, theft and murder, according to court records.
Authorities announced on Sunday that the charges against both suspects would be “amended to open murder through coordination with the Clark County District Attorney’s office.” Despite the fact that no murder charges have been filed against Comanche, that information is contradicted by court records.
Authorities in Nevada say that Comanche is currently in custody after being apprehended by FBI agents in Sacramento, California, on Friday. According to court records, Harnden was placed on bond at $500,000 after her appearances in court on Thursday and Sunday following her arrest on Wednesday.
