The Cuphead Show!, a new Netflix original series, is based on the 2017 hit video game Cuphead. Everything we know about the upcoming season 2 is here.
Season 1 of The Cuphead Show! ended with Cuphead and Mugman in peril, but will the duo be rescued in season 2?
Based on the viral video game Cuphead, the Cuphead Show! features the two brothers Cuphead and Mugman, both of whom are cartoon cups. In order to keep their souls from being sold to the devil in a casino game, the brothers make a deal to take on the devil’s creditors in order to win back their own.
As a 1930s-inspired video game, Cuphead was a natural fit for an animated version. An animated series adaptation of Cuphead was first announced by Netflix Animation in 2019, which will premiere before the video game expansion The Delicious Last Course is released in 2019.
For the first season, there were 12 episodes. While most episodes stood on their own, there were a few that hinted at the overarching storyline present in the game.
However, Cuphead has always been more about its style, run-and-gun stages, and boss rush format than nuanced storytelling. Cuphead is no exception. In addition to a fantastic soundtrack, the game’s animation is based on Walt Disney and Fleischer Studios’ golden age of animation.

To get out of doing chores, Cuphead and Mugman visit a carnival in the first season of The Cuphead Show!. When the player loses, Cuphead plays skeeball in a game that is rigged to steal their soul.
A winning streak that irritates the Devil eventually leads to his downfall. Cuphead and Mugman are on a series of misadventures as they try to outwit the Devil at every turn now that they owe their souls to him.
Instead of battling bosses or rescuing souls, the show focuses more on Cuphead and Mugman having fun and staying out of trouble with their guardian Elder Kettle.
A new character, Ms. Chalice, is introduced to the brothers at the end of the season and gets them arrested for helping them break into a cookie factory.
Season 2 of The Cuphead Show! has a cliffhanger ending that leaves a lot of possibilities open. Cuphead and Mugman will be in prison when the season ends for stealing cookies. Cuphead owes the Devil money, and the devil is out to get him.
Will the Inkwell Isle gang’s story continue, or will this be the last time we see Cuphead and Mugman?
The Cuphead Show Season 2 Could Be Confirmed
Cuphead! Is Almost Definitely Returning for a Second Season, says Executive Producer Dave Wasson! It was revealed in an interview with Animation Magazine that Netflix has ordered 36 episodes of Cuphead, which will be around 10 or 11 minutes long.
There will be “three separate drops” for each episode, according to Wasson. As a result of this, fans can expect to see not only a second season but likely a third as well.
Three seasons are clearly planned for the show’s first season, which had a total of 12 episodes, with 36 episodes ordered.
Cuphead Show Season 2 Plot Theories
The season 2 plot has not yet been revealed, but we can look back at season 1 for some hints. A wager at a carnival results in Cuphead and Mugman losing their souls to the Devil, but the duo escape with their spirits intact.
It’s not all fun and games for the two. A trip to the big city brings them face to face with the mysterious Chalice, who threatens to bring doom upon their party. Cuphead and Mugman are so enamoured with Chalice that they persuade her to join them in their cookie factory heist.
Although Chalice manages to escape during the break-in, Cuphead and Mugman are arrested and imprisoned in the epic finale, which sets up an exciting plot line for season 2.In addition, the Devil is unlikely to forget about Cuphead’s debt in season 2, so there’s more trouble to come.

The Cuphead Show! Season 2 Story: What To Expect
Cuphead owes the Devil his life. Instead of handing over their souls, he and Mugman take on the Devil’s other debtors in the game to pay off their debts. The Devil doesn’t appear to be willing to simply forget about Cuphead’s debt, even though the show is telling a slightly different story than the game.
Cuphead’s soul debt may be the focus of the brothers’ efforts in season 2. Ms. Chalice is also a new acquaintance for the brothers.
As a playable character in Cuphead: The Delicious Last Course, it’s safe to assume she’ll play a larger role in season 2 of The Cuphead Show! Because she was responsible for putting Cuphead and Mugman behind bars, it is likely that she will become a troublemaker for the brothers.

How many episodes will be in The Cuphead Show season 2?
An interview with Animation Magazine stated that Netflix had purchased 36 episodes of the series. While there were no multi-episode episodes in Season 1, that could change in Season 2.
It would make sense for season 2 to have the same number of episodes as season 1, with a 12-episode third season following.

Season 2 of The Cuphead Show will premiere this summer. For this summer, we can’t say for sure when it will happen. I’m assuming it will take place between July and August.
With Cuphead’s return, speculation is inevitable about what other characters and bosses will show up in the upcoming episodes.
