Irnis, Diana’s younger brother, was killed by Serbian soldiers at the age of 21. As an undergraduate at the University of Sarajevo, Diana was studying economics at the time of her death. During the Sarajevo Siege of 1992, she was forced to escape her homeland due to the outbreak of conflict.
