Female Group bugAboo: After only a year and two months together, the rookie female trio bugAboo has broken up. In a post to bugAboo’s official fan cafe on December 8th, ATEAM Entertainment revealed:

“Hello, this is ATEAM Entertainment.

First, we would like to thank fans for their love and support toward bugAboo. We would like to deliver an announcement regarding bugAboo’s group activities.

After debuting and striving forward with the love of fans, bugAboo will officially wrap up group promotions today. Through a deep and lengthy discussion between the agency and the members, it was decided that the contracts of all six members would be terminated.

Once again, we thank fans for the great love and support they showed bugAboo, and we apologize for delivering this very sudden news.

We ask for your warm love and encouragement as the members take on new paths.”

On October 25, 2021, bugAboo, a six-member group signed to ATEAM Entertainment, released their debut EP, also titled bugAboo. Last June, the band returned with a new album titled “Pop,” their second single.

A Team Entertainment discovered and nurtured the South Korean girl group BugAboo. A total of six people—Eunchae, Yoona, Rainie, Cyan, Choyeon, and Zin—make up the group. On October 25, 2021, the band debuted with the publication of their self-titled debut single album.

On December 8, 2022, they officially broke up. The name bugAboo carries the concept of “Let’s overcome the frightening life in our hearts together and fulfil our aspirations,” and refers to a fantastical creature that lives only in the mind.

A Team also disclosed that the game Peek-a-boo served as inspiration for the name. Choyeon and Eunchae, who both represented Million Market in 2018’s Produce 48, placed 32nd and 50th, respectively.

A Team Entertainment producer and CEO Ryan S. Jhun said in an interview that the release of bugAboo has been pushed back from 2020 to the fall of 2021. Before disbanding, the band released cover songs on their defunct YouTube page under the working title A Team Dream.

From 2021 on, bugAboo and Pop will be making their debut and introduction. On September 1, 2021, the band revealed that they would be making their debut in October of that year with a motion logo teaser and a silhouette teaser.
