Girl ensemble Dispute between Fifty Fifty and agency over exclusive contracts. Seven months after its debut, the K-pop female group Fifty Fifty is embroiled in a legal dispute with its agency over the members’ exclusive contracts.
The four members of the quartet stated through their lawyer on Wednesday that they filed an injunction on June 19 to suspend the validity of their exclusive contracts with Attrakt:

The group asserted that the company did not fulfill its contractual obligations, citing its lack of transparency in financial settlements and attempts to force members to participate in group activities without regard for their health conditions.
The lawyer apparently said, referring to the group’s decision to leave the agency, that:
“The members were greatly disappointed and frustrated when the agency refused to pay attention to their voices, labeling their recent decision as an attempt by some outside forces to steal the group. The decision was made unanimously by the four members, acting independently and without any external intervention.”
The agency announced on Tuesday that it had reported SIAHN, a freelance music producer who produced and co-wrote the lyrics for the group’s mega-hit single “Cupid,” to the police for allegedly attempting to unlawfully recruit the group’s members.
The agency asserts that the Korean producer approached the group’s global distributor, Warner Music Korea, and suggested investigating the members. The agency also sent a letter to the distributor, requesting an explanation in response.
Warner Music Korea denied the allegations as “without merit,” whereas SIAHN has not issued a statement on the matter. The K-pop quartet made its debut in November and rapidly rose to global fame after becoming the quickest K-pop group to enter the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 singles chart with “Cupid.”

The song has spent 13 consecutive weeks on the chart and the British Official Singles Chart, making Fifty Fifty the longest-reigning K-pop female group on both charts. According to the agency, the group is presently on leave because a member recently underwent surgery and will require an additional one to two months to recover.
