After more than three years with the sequel becoming the highest-grossing animated film ever, Disney has officially announced that Frozen 3 will be released. On February 8, 2023, Disney CEO Bob Iger revealed that the threequel, as well as films for Toy Story and Zootopia, were in the works.
The only surprise is that it took Disney so long to announce that a new movie was in the works. The cast of Frozen has long enjoyed teasing fans with tidbits of rumored information about a third Frozen film. With “zero authority,” Kristen Bell “confirmed” a threequel in June 2022.
In September 2022, her co-star Idina Menzel followed up, saying: “I can unofficially claim with no backing that there will be a Frozen 4 and 5. The trilogy and then the quadrupoly or whatever it’s called.”
Before the sequel’s release, Jennifer Lee, who wrote and directed the first two films, admitted to Digital Spy that she thought the second film would be the beginning of the end for Anna and Elsa. However, as she also noted, they had said the same thing at the conclusion of the previous film.
“For us, this feels like what we set out to accomplish. It feels like the end, but the first one felt like the end when we did it. We don’t know. I think, right now, it feels like the end,” she explained. Here are our current theories about Frozen 3 in light of all that has happened.
Frozen 3 Release Date
There Is no official confirmation about the release date. The release date of the third Frozen movie, if it ever happens, is a subject of some uncertainty. We can infer it’s in the very early stages because the movie was just announced as being in development (perhaps to promote shareholder confidence during a challenging period for Disney).
We can, however, make a good bet as to when audiences might anticipate visiting Arendelle by taking a look at the timeline for Frozen II. In 2015, Disney unveiled Frozen II in a formal announcement at the annual shareholder meeting.
We forecast that Frozen 3 would hit theaters in 2026 or 2027 after fans waited four years for the last installment. Even still, we sincerely hope we’re incorrect.

Frozen 3 Plot
To learn why a mysterious voice has been calling to Elsa and to stop the enchanted spirits from destroying Arendelle, Anna, and Elsa travel to the magical forest outside of the kingdom of Arendelle in the sequel. It turns out that in the past, there was a conflict between the Arendelle soldiers and the Northuldra inhabitants of the forest, which resulted in the woodland’s isolation from the outside world.
To cut a long story short, they learn that their parents were shipwrecked en route to Ahtohallan to look for Elsa’s power source. In the magical forest, Anna and Elsa locate their ship and learn that their mother was Northuldran.
In addition, their grandpa started the fight by building a dam in the forest with the intention of weakening the Northuldran people. Anna realizes she must destroy the dam to release the forest in order to make one for past wrongs.
Elsa was stuck in Ahtohallan, searching for the voice, which was revealed to be a memory of her mother. She accomplishes this barely in time. Elsa becomes the “fifth spirit,” the link connecting the real world and the world of magic. However, as we all know, a bridge has two sides, and the other one is Anna.
