Halle Bailey Career
Living in Georgia, Bailey began acting at the age of three. She has been in minor roles in films such as Joyful Noise (2012) and Let It Shine, a Disney television movie. The two uploaded a cover of Beyoncé’s “Best Thing I Never Had” to their YouTube channel when they were 11 and 13 years old.
Their first “viral” video had Beyoncé covering another song, Pretty Hurts. When they first began posting pop song covers on their YouTube page, they went by the name Chloe x Halle.
The couple made their debut appearance on The Ellen Show in April 2012. After winning Season 5 of Radio Disney’s The Next Big Thing in 2013, the Bailey sisters made a guest appearance and sang the song “Unstoppable” for the Disney series Austin & Ally in September of that same year.
The documents describing the sisters’ May 2015 signing with Parkwood Entertainment were filed with the Manhattan Supreme Court because both sisters were minors at the time. According to the contracts, if they produced at least six albums, they would earn advances of at least $60,000 and perhaps as much as $1 million.
They were eventually signed to a five-year deal in 2016 by Beyoncé’s Parkwood Entertainment, which she founded. This made them “Beyoncé’s prodigies” and her “first true musical successors.” In the Freedom video from foremost’s self-titled visual album Lemonade, the Bailey sisters made an appearance alongside Beyoncé, Lisa-Kainde and Naomi Diaz, Amandla Stenberg, and Zendaya on HBO in April 2016[20].
Chloe x Halle debuted as a group on April 29, 2016, when the EP Sugar Symphony was released through Parkwood. In addition, the two supported Beyoncé during her Formation World Tour, which toured Europe in late June and early August of 2016.
More than a year after it was released on YouTube, Chloe x Halle’s highly acclaimed mixtape, The Two of Us, was released on March 16, 2017. Rolling Stone magazine named the mixtape one of the Best R&B Albums of 2017.
On December 29, 2017, the duo released their version of the Grown theme song from the television series Grown-ish. Halle had a recurring role in the first season as Skylar “Sky” Forster before being upgraded to series regular in the second season. She quit the show after her character graduated from college at the conclusion of the fourth season.
The tracks “Grown” and “The Kids Are Alright” were the lead and second singles from Chloe x Halle’s debut studio album, which they released in late February 2018. The news that they would open for DJ Khaled during Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s On the Run II Tour’s American leg was made public on May 31, 2018.
Beyoncé and several media sources applauded Chloe x Halle’s performance of “America the Beautiful” during Super Bowl LIII on February 3, 2019. The highly anticipated sophomore album by the pair, Ungodly Hour, was released on June 12, 2020, to favorable reviews. The album debuted at number 16 on the Billboard 200 chart, with 24,000 units sold.
