The Guinness World Records is famous for keeping track of all kinds of achievements, from serious stuff like sports records to more fun things like the tallest tower of cards.
And businesses worldwide are always trying to come up with new ways to get into the record books.
One such business is Animate Ltd. in Japan, which wanted to have the biggest anime store ever, right in Ikebukuro.
Animate Ikebukuro’s Guinness World Record Quest
Recently, Animate Ikebukuro announced that they were going for the Guinness World Record for the largest anime shop/store.
They even invited some guests, Shōta Aoi and MC Neki Matsuzawa, to reveal the results on March 17th, at 3:00 p.m. Japan time, and you could watch it on the Animate Times YouTube channel.
The Announcement
On February 28th, Animate Ikebukuro posted on Twitter that they had applied to Guinness World Records.
Then, on March 17th, they got the verdict. To celebrate, they organized a special event at the Animate Ikebukuro Animate Theater.
Some cool people were there, like Shōta Aoi, Neki Matsuzawa, CEO Jun Fujiki, Manager Tomoyuki Noichi, and even a Guinness World Record adjudicator.
