Is Lee Dong Wook Retired?
Lee Dong Wook hasn’t retired. In response to the negative feedback he received during the premiere of the drama Life, Lee Dong-wook stated that he was contemplating a career change. The actor said he had always intended to retire, but he had never imagined admitting it onscreen or remembering such a hard time in his life. Lee Dong Wook said:
“I thought the series would have been more popular and successful without me. I felt I shouldn’t be acting anymore.”
He went on to explain that he began to blame himself and believe he shouldn’t be performing at that time. During that period of his life, Lee Dong-wook went so far as to think the idea could have succeeded commercially even without him.
Lee Dong-wook elaborated by saying that Gong Yoo escorted him out of my house. He simply called him one day and invited him to come outdoors and hang out with him. He made it clear that Gong Yoo paid him a visit despite Lee Dong-wook’s reluctance to meet or speak to anyone under the given circumstances.

According to Lee Dong-wook, it was that talk that opened his eyes to the fact that he had friends who adored him and held him in the highest regard. A community that values his work and is thankful for his presence—a community where he “belongs.” Here is what he said:
“Gong Yoo was the one who got me out of my house. He just called me one day and told me to step out and join him. He didn’t ask anything about my current problem and we just had casual conversations, and it got me thinking.
‘This is the world I belong to.’ I had been obsessed with how people on the internet perceived me. But there was a real world outside, and that was where I belonged.”
