ITZY’s Fourth Album: The newest album by ITZY has debuted on the Billboard 200 chart. ITZY’s sixth mini-album “Cheshire” debuted at No. 26 on the Billboard 200 with first-week sales of over 23,000.
After ‘Checkmate,’ ‘Crazy in Love,’ and ‘Guess Who,’ this is their fourth album to appear on the Billboard 200, making them only the third K-Pop girl group to achieve this feat. The album also debuted at No. 4 on Billboard’s ‘Top Album Sales’ and ‘Top Current Album Sales charts, making it ITZY’s third top 5 entry on the ‘Top Current Album Sales chart.
Yeji, Lia, Ryujin, Chaeryeong, and Yuna make up Itzy, a girl group from South Korea that was created by JYP Entertainment. They first appeared on the scene on February 12, 2019, with the release of their debut album, It’z Different.
They are the first K-pop girl group to win the “Rookie Grand Slam,” which consists of the Rookie of the Year award at the 34th Golden Disc Awards, the New Artist of the Year award at the 9th Gaon Chart Music Awards and the 2019 Melon Music Awards, the Best New Female Artist award at the 2019 Mnet Asian Music Awards, and the New Artist Award at the 29th Seoul Music Awards.
Chaeryeong and her sister were discovered by JYP Entertainment (JYP) through the K-pop Star 3 reality show after they both failed auditions held by Fantagio. Chaeryeong competed on JYP’s survival show Sixteen in 2015, but she was eliminated before the final girl group lineup was revealed (who would become the winning group, Twice).
She spent five years in training to become the first member of Itzy to join JYP. After being discovered during a Got7 show, Ryujin spent four years in JYP’s training programme before making his debut with Itzy. In 2015, Yuna and Yeji both joined JYP and began intensive three-year training programmes after being spotted by company personnel.

The group’s final member, Lia, was invited to join SM Entertainment after passing an audition, but she ultimately decided to withdraw due to a family dispute. After several years of preparation, she was able to go through the JYP auditions. BTS‘ “Love Yourself” Highlight Reel included Yuna and Ryujin in 2017.
Without Lia, the group debuted that same year as a project group on the Mnet reality show Stray Kids, which also featured the boy group that would later adopt the moniker Stray Kids.
Ryujin came in first among the female competitors on the JTBC survival show Mix Nine, however, she came in last place overall. At the same time, Yeji was a contestant on The Fan on SBS but was sent off after the fifth episode.
