EDAM Entertainment, IU’s agency, apologized and promised to resolve the issue peacefully with a fan who was kicked out of the fan club for being falsely accused of being an illegal ticket trader. The fan was unable to attend the event.
According to a statement released by EDAM Entertainment on April 3rd, the official fan club of IU addressed the matter of illicit ticket dealing for the “2024 IU H.E.R. WORLD TOUR CONCERT IN SEOUL.”
In response to a recent fan post, they worked with Melon Ticket and the concert team to conduct a comprehensive examination. They politely asked for patience because it took them a while to confirm everything and get back to them.
Fans of Korean pop music were outraged when they heard about Blogger A, who got an email from Melon Ticket accusing her of trying to sell tickets to an IU performance illegally.
Blogger A was denied entry on the day of the concert despite providing multiple documents for clarification, such as identification, ticket payment records, an official fan club card, and communication with a friend who assisted with the ticketing. The reason given was that the explanation of “a friend making the payment” was mistakenly interpreted as proxy ticketing.
Blogger A wanted all of her money back, including the cost of the lightstick, the concert tickets, the fan club membership fee, and the cost of transportation to and from the show.
The use of the “secret inspector system” to keep a close eye on illicit ticket sales had earned IU’s side plaudits. But this event drew a lot of criticism because it revealed system weaknesses.
In response, EDAM Entertainment deeply regretted any discomfort the fan may have experienced and took full responsibility for the occurrence.
They promised to immediately resolve the dispute amicably and give the Korea Consumer Agency their full attention. For any trouble that fans may have had purchasing tickets, they also extended an apology.
The staff and affiliated workers did not resell or transfer the canceled seats to anyone on that day, they clarified. Official channels and notices have repeatedly warned them about unlawful ticket dealing, and they have assured that they retain the actual printed tickets for those seats. Rather than relying on worker discretion, the venue’s management followed internal protocols in responding to the incident.

In addition, EDAM Entertainment has announced that it will be changing its policies in response to fan feedback about ticket booking.
These changes will include making it easier to verify an individual’s age if it does not fall under the youth identification standards, enhancing Melon Ticket’s customer service and clarification processes, and enhancing its secret inspector system.
While they work with Melon Ticket and the concert crew to develop better solutions, they ask for patience because it will take time to announce improvements. They are committed to preventing future instances.
