IU, the singer-songwriter behind the hit “Love Wins All,” has spoken out regarding the casting of BTS member V in the music video.
A new single called “Love Wins All” marked IU’s long-awaited return last week. She and the BTS member play a romantic couple in the music video, reminiscing about their great times together while battling for survival in a dystopian world.
The casting of V was decided upon after IU and director Um Tae-hwa discussed the male lead’s need to “possess the mood of a young boy, but give off a very cool and reliable feeling after the transformation,” as IU explains in a new behind-the-scenes clip.
The singer went on to say that she had her doubts about their ability to locate someone suitable at first. Nevertheless, she revealed that she had been communicating with V for an unrelated issue before asking him to be the featured actor in the music video after she realized he could be a good fit for the part.
“I was the one who sent him the music first, and V adored it,” she spilled. After hearing “Love Wins All,” he joyfully agreed to be the video’s featured actor. “I said,” he said. “I would love to perform the song.”
In another part of the behind-the-scenes video, V revealed that he had wanted to collaborate with Um and thus agreed to the project. “Working on a piece with Director Um Tae-hwa, who filmed Concrete Utopia, would be a precious memory,” he stated, explaining that he was fortunate enough to collaborate with the man behind the music video.
I suggested that I give the song a listen when IU called. “I would deeply regret not doing the video because it was so perfect for my tastes after I listened to it,” V continued. “I made up my mind to do it.”
In related news, IU will be performing from March through August of this year on her enormous ‘H.E.R.‘ world tour in 2024. Asia, Europe, and the United States will all be showcased on the 29-date tour.
