A guy with remarkable powers ultimately succeeds in saving the woman who is meant to be his, a feat that no one else could do in the short story “I’m Not a Hero.” The show stars Jang Ki Yong as Bok Gyu, a guy who loses his superpowers due to despair, and is based on a webtoon.
With Jang Ki Yong’s return from a three-year break and the conclusion of his military duty, this project has attracted a lot of attention. He left the army in August 2021 to serve on active service and returned to civilian life in February of last year. His last project was ‘Now, We Are Breaking Up,’ an SBS series in which he appeared with Song Hye Kyo and ran till January 2022.
Jang Ki Yong said, “Looking back on my 20s, I was incredibly busy. Taking a break for the first time during the one-and-a-half-year hiatus felt necessary. After completing my military service and immersing myself in this project, I felt a newfound sense of peace.”
“In the past, if I was chasing something and feeling anxious, preparing for ‘I’m Not a Hero’ as my comeback work allowed me to find peace of mind slowly and sometimes leisurely,” he said when discussing the changes that followed his discharge.
The reasons for Jang Ki Yong’s decision to take on ‘I’m Not a Hero’ as his comeback project were as follows: “The script intrigued me, and I found the dynamics of the family members with heroes particularly captivating. Additionally, there was the excitement of delivering unexpected performances, even for myself, upon returning to the screen.”
‘I’m Not a Hero,’ the much-awaited weekend drama from JTBC will debut on the 4th at 10:30 PM.
