‘Standing Next to You’ topped Spotify’s ‘Daily Top Songs Global’ chart the moment it dropped, and during its 70-day run, there is evidence of its enduring appeal.
On top of that, the song spent ten weeks in a row at the top of the main singles chart, the “Hot 100,” published by the prominent American music publication Billboard. It debuted at number five. For a total of ten weeks running, it was number one on the ‘Global 200’ and ‘Global (Excluding U.S.)’ charts, and it was a permanent fixture in the ‘Top 100’ of the UK’s Official Main Singles Chart.
On the Grammy Awards’ list of “15 K-Pop Songs That Took 2023 By Storm,” “Standing Next to You” was lauded as “a timeless hit that will resonate for years to come” and was featured. ‘The 100 Best Songs of 2023’ by the ‘Los Angeles Times’ was another accolade it received.
At the ‘2024 iHeartRadio Music Awards,’ Jungkook was up for four awards: ‘Favourite Debut Album,’ ‘Best Music Video,’ ‘K-Pop Artist of the Year,’ and (K-Pop Song of the Year).
He also set a new record for the most nominations ever for a K-Pop solo artist at the ‘2024 E! People’s Choice Awards (PCAs), with four nominations total—’Pop Artist of the Year,’ ‘Male Artist of the Year,’ ‘New Artist of the Year,’ and ‘Collaboration Song of the Year’—thus there was a lot of interest in seeing how he did.
