The leader of the popular South Korean boy band BTS is known simply as RM. It wasn’t until 2015 that RM dropped his debut lone mixtape, simply titled RM. His second mixtape, titled Mono, was published in 2018, and it quickly became the highest-charting album by a Korean soloist in the history of the US Billboard 200.

He has worked with a wide range of musicians, including Wale, Younha, Warren G, Gaeko, Krizz Kaliko, MFBTY, Fall Out Boy, Primary, and Lil Nas X. ADOR, a division of Hybe Corporation, founded the South Korean girl group NewJeans. Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein make up the rest of the group.

The Super Juniors

In recognition of their significant impact on the Korean Wave, the media have crowned the Super Junior King of Hallyu. The current lineup of Super Junior has 10 individuals: Leeteuk, Heechul, Yesung, Shindong, Sungmin, Eunhyuk, Donghae, Siwon, Ryeowook, and Kyuhyun.

After Kyuhyun’s joining in 2006, the group totalled 12 members before the departures of Han Geng, Kibum, and Kangin in 2011, 2015, and 2019, respectively.


SM Entertainment’s Chinese sub-label, Label V, manages the Chinese boy band WayV, which is also the fourth sub-unit of the South Korean boy band NCT. Kun, Ten, Winwin, Lucas, Xiaojun, Hendery, and Yangyang are the seven members of the group.

The Vision, their first EP, was released digitally on January 17, 2019. Their track “Kick Back,” released in 2021, won Best Dance Performance (Chinese) at the Asian Pop Music Awards, and they were named Favorite Asian Artist at the 2020 Mnet Asian Music Awards.

The NCT Wish

The South Korean boy band NCT has a third sub-unit called NCT Dream, which was founded in 2016 by SM Entertainment. The group was rebranded in 2020 from its original intent as NCT’s teen unit, complete with an admission and graduation process that would see members leave after they turned 20 in Korea and 19 elsewhere.

Debuting on August 25, 2016, with the single Chewing Gum, the sub-unit featured a lineup of seven members with a median age of 15.6 years old: Mark, Renjun, Jeno, Haechan, Jaemin, Chenle, and Jisung.

NCT Dream continued marketing as a seven-member group after leader Mark announced his graduation from the group in late 2018, with the intention of rejoining following the elimination of the admission-and-graduation system in 2020.

Minho of SHINee

Minho is a popular performer in South Korea. He is a rapper, singer, actor, songwriter, and model. In May of 2008, he made his debut with the South Korean boy band SHINee, and he quickly rose to prominence as one of the country’s most popular musicians.

In addition to his work in groups, he made his acting debut in KBS2’s drama special Pianist in November of 2010. He has since appeared on shows like Salamander Guru and The Shadows (2012), To the Beautiful You (2012), Medical Top Team (2013), My First Time (2015), and Hwarang: The Poet Warrior Youth (2016). (2016).

Canola, released in 2016, marked his first cinematic role. Digital singles “I’m Home” (2019) and “Heartbreak” (2019) are his first offerings as a solo artist (2021).
