The next performance of William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, set to music by Benjamin Britten, was recently unveiled during a press conference by the Korea National Opera. The event served to present the cast and staff of the show.
Choi Sang Ho, director of the Korea National Opera, said during the press conference that he had intended to have a “well-known musician” play the role of Puck, one of the opera’s protagonists.
The group had first thought about casting RM, the frontman of BTS when they were casting. The news of RM’s enrollment put an end to any discussion of his potential casting.

The part was instead filled by Kim Dong Wan, a veteran actor and member of Shinhwa. Kim Dong Wan playfully responded, “I’m grateful that the production team chose me over RM after much deliberation,” as the crew discussed their consideration of BTS’s RM for the role of Puck.
