Cho Gue Sung
Cho Gue-sung is a forward for both Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors and the national team of South Korea. Cho spent his youth career and his first year at Gwangju University as a defensive midfielder. But Cho wasn’t considered a decent midfielder by his university’s manager Lee Seung-won, thus he switched positions to the striker in 2017.
Having previously played for FC Anyang’s youth team, Cho joined the club’s K League 2 squad this year. After finishing as the third leading scorer in his rookie professional season, he was promoted to K League 1 club Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors the following year and was named to the K League 2 Best XI.
During his rookie year with Jeonbuk, Cho struggled to prove his worth. He decided to join the military in 2021 and found a home in Gimcheon Sangmu. While at Gimcheon, he underwent rigorous training that allowed him to grow both physically and intellectually. He led Jeonbuk to the 2022 Korean FA Cup championship and finished as the league’s top scorer in 2022 K League 1.
