At first glance, it seemed that this occurrence had an impact on Marry My Husband; viewership dipped slightly from 7.6% to 7.4% in the episodes following the revelation. Park Min-young’s personal struggles and the show’s previous popularity slump both played a role in the ratings becoming more noticeable.
The scandal and Park Min-young’s daring and unconventional dress choice in the play, which was deemed inappropriate for an office environment, both heightened public attention.
The actress has been in the spotlight since January 15, 2024, when Dispatch revealed that she had fabricated her claim about receiving money from her controversial ex-boyfriend Kang Jong-hyun. Allegations against Kang state that Bithumb and its affiliates have reportedly lost a staggering ₩60.0 billion KRW, or around $45.7 million USD.
According to Dispatch, the situation became even more complicated when it came to light that Park Min-young had initially denied knowing about Kang Jong-hyun’s misconduct throughout their relationship, which led to their breakup. During her connection with Kang Jong-hyun, Park Min-young collected ₩250 million KRW, or approximately $190,000 USD, according to the media source’s detailed investigation.
In February 2023, the actress from What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim, Park Min-young, was involved in an investigation into Kang Jong-hyun’s use of her account under a borrowed name. At that point, it became quite clear that she had no connection to the case.
In spite of the actress’s embezzlement scandal, the continuing tvN drama has been doing well as of late. Korean internet users have not yet exonerated the Healer actress from their accusations, despite the fact that she was ultimately found innocent in the scandal. She made a triumphant return about a year after the scandal had already ruined her career.
The current tvN drama may have succeeded in attracting and retaining viewers, according to the show’s recent ratings surge. This could be because of the show’s fascinating plot, stellar performance, or the mystery surrounding the show’s lead actress.
