American journalist, media personality, and former professional football player Michael Anthony Strahan was a defensive end for the National Football League (NFL) New York Giants throughout his whole 15-year professional career.
In his final season in 2007, Strahan, a fierce pass rusher, assisted the Giants in defeating the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLII. He is presently tied with T. J. Watt for the most NFL single-season quarterback sacks. Following his NFL retirement, he entered the media scene as a football analyst for Fox NFL Sunday.
He later co-hosted ABC’s Good Morning America and Live! with Kelly and Michael with Kelly Ripa from 2012 to 2016, during which he was nominated for two Daytime Emmy Awards. He also made appearances as a guest on game shows and other shows.

The GMA star usually posts positive things on Instagram, but this week he gave a quiet yet heartfelt homage to his late father, Gene Strahan, who died away in 2020. The popular TV personality was podcasting from home and posted a picture of himself at his desk at work, with his parents’ photos behind him.
Michael received a lot of support from his fans, many of whom assured him that his father would be pretty proud. Another person said, “Of course they are super proud,” while another said, “So sorry for the loss of your dad, your parents sure are proud.” I apologize for your loss. At the age of 83, Michael’s father passed away in September 2020. After being married in 1957, Gene and his wife Louise raised their six children together for sixty-three years. Louise and Gene were wed in 1957. Together, they raised their six children for 63 years.

Not long after Gene passed away, Michael discussed his grieving process. On the Dr. Oz show, the former athlete expressed his gratitude for his family’s support.

In 2004, Michael Strahan received his twin daughters, Isabella and Sophia, who are now 19 years old. This made him a father of four. The former New York Giants defensive end welcomed Isabella and Sophia with his ex-wife, Jean Muggli, after receiving his older daughters, Tanita and Michael Jr., with his first wife, Wanda Hutchins.
After graduating from high school in 2023 and enrolling in different colleges that same year, the twins have grown up to make their father proud. While Isabella started college at the University of Southern California, Sophia began at Duke University.
But two months into her freshman year, Isabella received a diagnosis of medulloblastoma, a type of cancer that develops in the cerebellum, the part of the skull that controls coordination. Isabella needed emergency surgery after medical professionals discovered a golf ball-sized tumor in her body.
After arriving on October 28, 2004, Isabella and Sophia spent their childhood alternating between their mother’s farm in North Carolina and her house in North Dakota. Although Michael and Muggli separated when the twins were young, they continued to have a close bond with both of their parents.
Michael indicated that he would travel to see them throughout the school year and that they would come to stay with him in New York City during their breaks.

Strahan played defensive end at Texas Southern University, following in the footsteps of his uncle Art. TSU coaches nicknamed Strahan’s double teaming “Strahan rules” because Strahan was so powerful that he drew double teams. By his junior year, Strahan was starting to establish himself as an NFL contender.
The Sheridan Network, Edd Hayes Black College Sports Report, The Poor Man’s Guide to the NFL Draft, and the Associated Press all named Strahan, a senior with the Texas Southern Tigers, to the first team of the All-America team.

In addition to 32 tackles and 142 yards in losses, he recorded 68 tackles, including a school-record 19 quarterback sacks. Additionally, Edd Hayes Black College Sports Report and The Poor Man’s Guide named him Division I-AA Defensive Player of the Year.
He was selected to the First Team of the Southwest Athletic Conference (SWAC) in 1992 and won the SWAC Player of the Year award for the second year in a row. The Black College Defensive Player of the Year award went to him as well.
In 1991, Strahan’s 14.5 quarterback sacks as a junior led the SWAC. His 41.5 career sacks set a record for Texas Southern. 2014 saw him become a member of the Black College Football Hall of Fame.
