Min Hee Jin Opens Up About Conflict With Bang Si Hyuk Over Copying NewJeans
Ador’s CEO, Min Hee-jin, said in an exclusive interview that Hybe’s audit initiation was a pretense to usurp Ador’s management powers. He said, “The allegations that we are trying to take over the management are completely untrue.”
She makes the case that the dispute with Hybe came from “subsidiary plagiarism controversies,” notably charging ILLIT, a new female group signed to another Hybe label, with copying NewJeans.

On April 22, Min filed a plagiarism complaint against Belift Lab, a label owned by Hybe. She said that Hybe disregarded Belift Lab’s alleged copying of NewJeans and instead started an audit.
Following their participation in a JTBC audition show, Belift Lab announced the formation of ILLIT, a new girl group. Bang Si-hyuk, the chairman of Hybe, produced the group’s debut album.
Since its debut, ILLIT has garnered attention because of its distinct identity and style, choreography, and music videos—all of which have a striking similarity to NewJeans.
According to Min Hee-jin, “Ironically, the cultural achievements of NewJeans are being seriously infringed upon by Hybe, the very entity that should have prevented it.”
She made clear that Hybe is involved in Belift Lab’s copying of NewJeans, alleging Hybe has plagiarized successful cultural content without hesitation to make quick money. “Ador has never allowed or condoned anyone to copy NewJeans’ achievements,” she stated.
The Ador management, including Min, has frequently asked Hybe and Belift Lab to address and correct the matter, but to no effect. They formally asked Hybe to admit the plagiarism between both labels last week, claiming it harms the NewJeans brand.
Additionally, Min Hee-jin disclosed that Hybe abruptly informed her of their plan to suspend and fire her as CEO of NewJeans today, citing the possibility that Ador’s interests could be harmed by her justifiable objections to the company’s accomplishments.
“It is incomprehensible how protecting our artist’s achievements could possibly be detrimental to Ador,” she complained.
