Missing TV Doctor Michael Mosley Found Dead on Greek Island
The body of TV doctor Michael Mosley has been found four days after he went missing on a Greek island.
His body was discovered near a cave complex by Agia Marina on Symi, about 10 meters from the sea, with no visible signs of injury. Symi’s mayor, Lefteris Papakalodoukas, explained that he and a media crew were on a boat heading to search the caves when they spotted something on the rocks. Using a mobile phone to zoom in, they confirmed it was a body lying on a rocky slope.

The body seemed to have fallen down a steep slope, stopping against a fence, face-up with some rocks on top. He had a leather bag in one hand, and an umbrella was found nearby. Mosley’s wife, Dr. Clare Bailey Mosley, a GP and cookery writer, expressed her devastation over losing her “wonderful, funny, kind, and brilliant husband.” She found solace in knowing he nearly made it to safety and praised their four children for their resilience.
Local bar manager Ilias Tsavaris, one of the first to find the body, explained that the area had been searched extensively by foot and helicopter. The body was located on the opposite side of Saint Nicholas beach, where Mosley had left his wife and friends to go for a walk. The hike to the spot where he was found would usually take about half an hour, but the recent extreme heat, over 40°C (104°F), made the journey much more challenging.
Dr. Bailey Mosley and their children plan to lay flowers at the site where his body was found on Monday. Formal identification and a post-mortem will determine the exact cause of death.
