Mission Impossible 8 Release Date: Christopher McQuarrie, who co-produced Mission Impossible 8 with Tom Cruise, is the film’s writer and director. Directly following the events of Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One (2023), this film is the eighth and final in the Mission: Impossible film series, which is based on the television series created by Bruce Geller.
This will be Cruise’s eighth time playing series protagonist Ethan Hunt, a role he has held for more than 28 years by the time the picture is released, and it is widely speculated that this will be his last.
Returning from earlier installments are series regulars Ving Rhames, Henry Czerny, Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson, Vanessa Kirby, Hayley Atwell, Shea Whigham, and Pom Klementieff. The seventh film brings back the villain Esai Morales.

Mission Impossible 8 Title
Titles for these movies will likely include the now-iconic colon and em dash from previous Mission: Impossible entries. The official title for Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning, Part 1 has been unveiled. In other words, we should expect Mission: Impossible 8 to be called Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning, Part 2. But that verification will take some time to arrive. Mission Impossible 8 Cast
Both Tom Cruise as Ethan Hunt and Ving Rhames as Luther Stickell return. Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson, Vanessa Kirby, Angela Bassett, and Frederick Schmidt will all be returning to their roles in the new movies as well. Henry Czerny’s Eugene Kittridge is one key character who hasn’t been seen since the first film in 1996, but he’s back for this one.
Director of the IMF Kittridge believed Ethan was a mole working for the organization and went on the hunt for him. McQuarrie posted on Instagram that Czerny was indeed back. McQuarrie also announced the additions of Hayley Atwell, Esai Morales, Pom Klementieff, Charles Parnell, Indra Varma, Mark Gatiss, Rob Delaney, Cary Elwes, and Shea Whigham to the cast on Instagram.
In place of Nicholas Hoult, who had to leave owing to schedule difficulties, Morales will take over the role of Ethan Hunt’s next adversary. Nick Offerman and Janet McTeer were announced for Mission: Impossible 8 in August. Their precise functions have not been revealed to us yet.
Mission Impossible 8 Plot
The upcoming Mission: Impossible films have a mysterious plot that we have yet to learn much about. From what we know about the previous films in the series, we can safely assume that they will have plenty of exciting action sequences, spectacular feats, and exciting escapes.
Behind The Scenes
Both Mission: Impossible 7 and Mission: Impossible 8 will have Christopher McQuarrie back in the director’s chair. He’s the guy who helmed and scripted Mission: Impossible — Fallout and Mission: Impossible — Rogue Nation. The next two movies in the franchise are also being shot simultaneously, just like the fifth and sixth movies in the series.

Mission Impossible 8 Development
Cruise initially confirmed that McQuarrie would write and direct both the seventh and eighth Mission: Impossible films, with releases on July 23, 2021, and August 5, 2022, on January 14, 2019. Unfortunately, Deadline Hollywood reported in February 2021 that Paramount had scrapped the project.
Earlier this year, Ferguson said that she would be returning for the seventh chapter, and in September, Hayley Atwell and Pom Klementieff were added to the cast. Actors Simon Pegg and Shea Whigham were both announced as joining the film’s cast in December.
The Franchise’s Future Beyond The Next Two Installments
There has been no confirmation yet as to whether or not these two movies represent the “series finale” for the franchise. Variety, however, suggests that this is definitely the final chapter for Ethan Hunt and his team.
There has been speculation in the trade that Mission: Impossible 8 will serve as the final installment in the series. Nerdist has contacted Paramount Pictures for comment, but so yet has heard nothing. The franchise’s success in enduring through eight films and nearly thirty years, if indeed this is its final chapter, is nothing short of remarkable.
Paramount has pushed back the release dates for Mission: Impossible 7 and 8, the Chris Pratt-led sci-fi/action film The Tomorrow War, and a new Dungeons & Dragons movie. https://t.co/xxB2nzfH7F pic.twitter.com/SHn9plJvzV

After the release of Mission: Impossible 8, Tom Cruise will be over sixty, making it a fitting time for him to retire from his role as Ethan Hunt. He will likely end his life on a high note, literally, by jumping off the side of a mountain or a tall building.
