Moonshiners Season 13 Release Date: In the Discovery Channel’s American docudrama series Moonshiners, created by Magilla Entertainment, the lives of those who make (illegal) Moonshine in the Appalachian Mountains of Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia are dramatized.
Their attempts to produce alcohol, legal evasion methods, and daily lives are dramatized in the series. “If criminal behavior were genuinely taking place, the Virginia ABC Bureau of Law Enforcement would have taken action,” the Virginia Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) stated in March 2012. Additionally, they claimed that they had asked the show’s creators to add a disclaimer to clarify that it was merely a dramatization, “but the request was forgotten,” even though Magilla Entertainment, the show’s creators, has acknowledged their documentary content is authentic.
Marvin “Popcorn” Sutton’s appearance on the program includes clips from a Neal Hutcheson documentary. The documentary by Hutcheson, titled This is the Last Dam Run of Likker I’ll Ever Make, was shot in 2002 and released that same year.
The Last One, a shortened version of the documentary broadcast on television in 2008 on PBS and the Documentary Channel, won a Southeast Emmy Award in 2009. Sutton was detained in 2007 for illicit liquor distillation and felon in possession of a firearm by ATF investigators in Cocke County, Tennessee, commanded by Jim Cavanaugh of Waco siege fame.
In 2009, he was given an 18-month prison term. He later committed suicide, ostensibly to avoid serving the federal jail sentence. The first season of the program debuted on December 6, 2011.
