In addition to the change in location, viewers can look forward to a new intern in season 2. Go Min Si will replace BTS’s V from season 1, as V is currently fulfilling his mandatory military service duties.
Regarding the choice of Go Min Si as the new intern for season 2, Na Young Suk PD stated, “We wanted to select a young, rising star, so we conducted extensive research. Go Min Si is a talented actress diligently building her career, and we discovered that she had worked many jobs before becoming an actress. While the working environment on the show may seem casual to the public, there is a system in place. We felt that Go Min Si would adapt well to this system and contribute to the team. Notably, Go Min Si received promotions quickly while working as a wedding planner. Seeing this, I felt she would fit in well here.”
Na Young Suk PD also described the differences between the two interns, V and Go Min Si. “V displayed wonderful human qualities in season one, but our program is ultimately a show about running a restaurant, not a real restaurant. If our primary goal was to introduce Korean food to the locals, we would invite professional chefs. Instead, we create a team of actors to run a restaurant overseas, allowing viewers to see the actors learn about food, cooking, and business. In season one, V portrayed a young person starting out in the workforce, with his fun character, wit, and the challenges he faced,” the producer explained.
He continued, “Go Min Si’s case is a little different. She also represents a young person beginning in the workforce, but she has experience and skills and seeks acknowledgment and good results through her efforts. Their roles are quite different. I hope viewers will observe those natural differences.”
‘Jinny’s Kitchen’ premieres on June 28 at 8:40 PM KST on TVN and will be simultaneously streaming globally through Prime Video.
