Adults Don’t Understand) manga by Nao Maita, the eighth and final collected book volume (shown to the right), announced on April 26 that Maita will debut a new manga series on July 3 in the August issue of Shogakukan’s Ciao magazine. In the announcement, romance in the new series is hinted at. Otona wa Wakattekurenai was published by Maita in Ciao in December 2019 and concluded on March 3. The main character of the manga is a girl named Tsumugi, who enrolls in a private school for well-to-do families and meets someone fated to transform her life.

In the magazine, Maita put an end to her Age 12 (12-Sai.) manga in October. The manga was first published in 2012 by Maita, and it was finished in October 2019. A 20th volume of the manga was released, and it contains brand-new tales that are set after the characters graduate from elementary school and transfer to junior high. At the 2019 Shogakukan Manga Awards, the manga took home the Best Children’s Manga prize.
Age 12 served as the inspiration for the 2016 television anime 12-Sai: Chiccha na Mune no Tokimeki (Age 12: A Little Heart-Pounding), two original video anime series, and a live-action DVD special.
