NCT Dream: New single “Candy” by NCT Dream debuted at the top of MelOn’s TOP 100. NCT Dream’s new single “Candy” was released on December 16 at 6 PM KST. For their unique mini album of the same name, NCT Dream remade the hit “Candy” by the first-generation SM boy group H.O.T.

In just a few hours after its release at roughly 11 PM KST, their single “Candy” has climbed to the top of MelOn’s TOP 100 chart. As always, NCT Dream deserves praise for its outstanding achievement.

NCT is a boy band from South Korea that was established and debuted in 2016 by SM Entertainment. There are 23 members in the group, who are split into four separate groups: NCT U, NCT 127, NCT Dream, and WayV.

Across their several groups, NCT has sold over 24 million albums in South Korea, making them SM Entertainment’s most successful act to date. On April 9, 2016, NCT released the digital double single “The 7th Sense”/”Without You” to introduce their first rotating sub-unit.

Sub-unit NCT 127 from Seoul released an EP of the same name on July 7, 2016, and sub-unit NCT Dream, comprised of teenagers at the time, released a digital single titled “Chewing Gum” on August 24, 2016.

WayV, NCT’s first overseas sub-unit, is a seven-member Chinese group that debuted on January 17 with the single album The Vision. NCT has three full-length albums—Empathy (2018), Resonance (2020), and Universe (2020)—that they promoted as a group but is promoting individually (2021).

After only two months on sale, Resonance’s two volumes sold over 2.6 million copies combined, making it the best-selling physical album ever released by an act signed to SM Entertainment and earning the group their first Daesang (Grand Prize) Award at the 2020 Asia Artist Awards.

After its release in December 2021, Universe quickly surpassed 1.8 million copies sold and became their best-selling album in pre-orders.
