The third season of the adolescent sensation Never Have I Ever debuted on Netflix on Friday, and a tonne of viewers have already binge-watched all 10 episodes, cheering in delight (or agony) at the show’s heartbreaking romantic cliffhanger. After two seasons in which Sherman Oaks student Devi (Maitreyi Ramakrishnan) balanced high school romance and familial sadness, season three follows the overachiever as she learns to love herself during her brief relationships with her major crush Paxton (Darren Barnet) and newcomer Des (Anirudh Pisharody).
Devi takes two significant decisions at the end of the season: to spend her senior year in Sherman Oaks with her friends and family and to give her virginity to an enemy-turned-possible-lover Ben (Jaren Lewison). Devi and Ben’s relationship isn’t revealed until the end of the season, but fresh episodes are already in the works. In a handwritten statement to the show’s viewers, co-creators Kaling and Fisher announced in March 2022 that the fourth season of the teen dramedy will be the last. The statement continues, “We just got renewed for a fourth and final season, which we are incredibly pleased about. “We are so excited to share with you all the hilarious adventures and steamy romance we have in store for you.
Why Will Season 4 Be The Last For The Program?
Erin Underhill, president of Universal Television, offered the following straightforward justification for why the program wouldn’t go for more than a four-season run: High school isn’t really permanent. In a statement, she stated, “Four seasons of Never Have I Ever is very exciting and a little sad since, as a committed fan, I’d love to see Devi’s journey go on forever.” But all good things must come to an end, just as in high school… Devi’s senior year will undoubtedly be filled with mess, LOLs, and tears, and we can’t wait to witness them all.
Never Have I Ever won’t be Kaling and Fisher’s final series, they added. (On HBO Max, Kaling’s sexy dramedy The Sex Lives of College Girls is already a smash.) The couple said, “We can’t wait to unveil all the hilarious adventures and hot romance we have in store for you. We appreciate the support of all of our supporters.
Ramakrishnan thanked the viewers for their support and vowed to give the series finale her “all.” The show’s lead actress wrote on her social media, “I am so proud of us all and everything this show has done… Let’s try it again, shall we?
What Will Happen In Season 4 of Never Have I Ever?
At the end of season three of Never Have I Ever, a shift was evident. Devi was accepted to a prestigious boarding school for her senior year, where she could have further increased her prospects of being accepted to a prestigious university. She might have moved on to the next phase of her life, but she opted to spend as much time as she could with her mother and friends in Sherman Oaks.
That means she can’t run from Ben, the guy she kissed at the end of the show (and possibly had sex with after offering him “one free boink” following the news that both Eleanor and Fabiola had lost their respective Vs).
Can we expect more than a fling out of Devi and Ben?
Paxton is off to Arizona to further his education, so we may never see him again (although we know he’ll be committing to some serious face-timing sessions with his buddy, so Barnet’s face could crop up from time to time). Trent, however, is continuing at school after failing his last year. Additionally, he requested that Devi pay him a visit, suggesting that a road trip may be in store for our hero.
Expect plenty of drama and some heartbreaking moments as you enter your senior year, which brings its own unique set of problems. Mindy Kaling, the show’s creator, told Marie Claire in 2012 that “when [Devi] loses her father in the first season, the sadness doesn’t go away.” This was in reference to Kaling’s own experience of losing her mother to cancer. He’s constantly present.
It’s the same way I feel about my own mother. My heart hurts for her constantly. However, as time goes on, my thoughts and feelings about her death shift as the distance between us grows. The things she taught me when she was young and healthy are what I remember most clearly now, not the periods when she was sick and dying.
The Cast Of Never Have I Ever Season 4
Devi Vishwakumar, played by Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, is the main character in Never Have I Ever. Devi will be a senior in high school in season 4. She will be joined by members of her family, including Ranjita Chakravarty as Nirmala Vishwakumar, her paternal grandmother, Poorna Jagannathan as Kamala Nandiwadal, her cousin, and Richa Moorjani as Dr. Nalini Vishwakumar, her mother and a dermatologist.
In flashback scenes, Sendhil Ramamurthy’s Mohan Vishwakumar, Devi’s father, is set to make a comeback. We should also witness Devi’s potential suitors, starting with Darren Barnet as Devi’s former boyfriend Paxton Hall-Yoshida. The show’s creators have stated that Paxton would feature in season 4 despite the fact that he graduated and is now enrolled at Arizona State University (more on that later).
Jaren Lewison, who played Devi’s prior love interest and main academic opponent Ben Gross, is also expected to make a comeback. Ramona Young as Eleanor Wong, Lee Rodriguez as Fabiola Torres, and Megan Suri as Aneesa Qureshi will all play characters that are friends with Devi.
Never Have I Ever Season 4 Release Date
Never Have I Ever Season 4’s release date has not yet been announced by Netflix. The streamer gave the show a fourth and final season in March 2022. Co-creators Mindy Kaling and Lang Fisher released the following statement at the time: “We can’t wait to share with you all the hilarious adventures and hot romance we have in store for you. Kaling additionally disclosed to Entertainment Tonight, “It made natural to have four seasons of a high school show. They cannot stay in high school indefinitely. We watched those programs. For instance, you’ve spent 12 years in high school. What’s happening here? Additionally, as the actor’s age, it is absurd that a 34-year-old is portraying a 15-year-old.”
Season 4 has already finished filming, so it may theoretically premiere shortly. The seasons of the show have typically been published about over a year apart. The release date of Never Has I Ever season 4 is projected to be in the fall of 2023.

We hope the wait won’t be too long, but there has been no official announcement of a release date as of yet. The first two seasons premiered in 2020 and 2021, while the third is scheduled for release in August 2022. The release of the next season is projected for 2023 at the earliest. We can only hope!
