The narrative of GODS follows the viewpoint characters of the former teammates Deft defeated on his way to Worlds victories. True to Riot Games’ words, “The 2023 Worlds music video will follow the story of Korean pro player Kim ‘Deft’ Hyuk-kyu from his discovery of League in high school to his unbelievable run at Worlds.” This is the tale of an entire squad, not just Deft and his indomitable will, that triumphed over incredible odds to win the World Series.

NewJeans’ sonic voyage shifts gears with “GODS,” a track written by Riot Games’ senior composer Sebastien Najand and Mako’s Alex Seaver. The track has strong bass lines, deeper tones, and an anthemic chorus. Korean professional player Kim “Deft” Hyuk-kyu is the subject of an animated music video that follows his journey from discovering League of Legends in high school to competing on the world stage.
