Rage Against the Machine Returns To The Stage Chanting “Abort the Supreme Court”

Audiences have been waiting a long time to witness the return of Rage Against the Machine (RATM). And how can it not become one of the most memorable moments ever? It was definitely one of the best weekends as the RATM was coming back from a very long break. Of course, the return was legendary but to make the event more impactful and voice their opinions, Rage Against the Machine made the fans root for them more when they said, “abort the supreme court”.

It was in reference to the Supreme Court’s decision of overturning the Roe V. Wade ruling that ultimately led to the ban on abortions. The iconic group didn’t miss the moment to show their support to all the women of America. The audiences were fully in support of the band when they lent their voice in this case.

Rage Against the Machine Left its Mark After 11 years

RATM was all set to spread its musical magic on Saturday at Alpine Valley Music Theater. It has been 11 long years since the band hasn’t been performing.

So, this was quite a historic comeback as the band’s first stop was on a Public Service Announcement tour with Run the Jewels. Fans were seen counting days to witness the magic of this historic moment. To make this day extra monumental, the band has done something that they are always known for doing.

Over the years, Rage Against the Machine was known to be one of those bands who have always delivered highly energetic live shows for their fans.

They know how to keep the crowd on their toes. But adding to their performance is always a series of strong and powerful social as well as political messages that hold meaning. So, this time as well, the show presented by RATM did deliver a message. Though they were absent from performing on stage for over a decade now, they are still up to date with current affairs going around the world. This time, they didn’t fail to direct their rage.

The band let their music do all the talking. Singer Zach de La Rocha didn’t speak much but allowed the music, the backdrop, texts, and images to show the injustice that has been happening all this while.

RATM started by playing their biggest hit and different depictions of today’s world were shown in the background. When playing their song Testify, the song had “a video of a burning cop” running on the screen simultaneously.

As a matter of fact, guitarist Tom Morello was wearing the shirt with the line, “I [heart] CRT” which suggests the critical race theory.

RATM Spoke Against The Supreme Court

The band didn’t hold back during the Saturday show. RATM had opinions regarding the recent decision of the Supreme Court overturning Roe V. Wade. The entire performance was captured by cameras and undoubtedly, fans were proud to see their icons standing for something that changed the face of many American women. In fact, the words were directed to the Supreme Court and there was no stopping. So, what did Rage Against the Machine say related to the overturning of Roe V. Wade?

When the entire band was furiously jamming, La Rocha read out the text displayed on the screen. He did chant “freedom” and proceeded to read, “Forced birth in a country that is the only wealthy country in the world without any guaranteed paid parental leave at the national level,” “Forced birth in a country where Black birth-givers experience maternal mortality two to three times higher than that of white birth-givers. Forced birth in a country where gun violence is the number one cause of death among children and teenagers.”

The final message that was spine-chilling and gave goosebumps was just made for this moment. The band stated, “Abort the Supreme Court”.

This comeback show of the cult-favorite band, Rage Against the Machine will be written in the pages of history. It delivered so many important messages that America will remember in the future. But will the Supreme Court lift its ban on abortion? Let’s pray that more artists come out openly against the overturning of Roe V. Wade which may ultimately lead to lifting the ban.
