The story follows Kazuto Kirigaya as he plays the virtual reality game Sword Art Online and tries to clean and explore the virtual realm of Aincrad. As the series proceeds, he and Asuna Yuuki collaborate and provide each other with moral support.
Main Characters
Kirito
After being selected as one of the thousand beta testers for the closed beta of Sword Art Online, the first Virtual Reality Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game (VRMMORPG) for the NerveGear, Kirito eventually joined the game’s official version and became one of the ten thousand players trapped in the game.
To begin SAO, he made fast friends with a young lady named Asuna. Diavel was murdered by Illfang the Kobold Lord during the first-floor boss fight because the monster’s weapons and attack patterns deviated from the released beta test version of information about it that had been made available by Argo.
It was because of this that animosity towards beta testers began to boil over again. Kirito chose to defuse the situation by declaring that the vast majority of beta testers were poor gamers, with just a select few, like himself, leading to the development of the category Beater; this meant that Kirito played almost exclusively solo for the duration of the game.
Kirito’s black leather trench coat, awarded to him for being the first player to defeat the 1st Floor Boss, becomes his signature look throughout the series.
Asuna
Asuna, a seventeen-year-old friend and, later, girlfriend and, in-game wife of Kirito in Sword Art Online and Alfheim Online, is the protagonist of the seventh volume and the Progressive series (which tells the entire Aincrad Arc through her perspective).
The second in command of the Knights of the Blood Oath, a sizable guild often regarded as Aincrad’s most powerful. She is one of the few women in the scene who plays SAO, and due to her good looks, she is frequently asked out on dates.
Asuna is an excellent player with a strong will, and she is renowned as “the Flash” in-game for her lightning-fast rapier skills. After she rescues Kirito from Kuradeel, the two fall in love and eventually get married in-game.

At the end of the SAO arc, she sacrifices herself to protect Kirito from a fatal strike from Heathcliff. Her virtual demise, however, is quickly remedied, and she and Kirito are reunited after Heathcliff’s demise.
Sword Art Online Season 5 Plot
The latest Sword Art Online episode followed the Alicization pattern. It ran an ad for it in February of 2021. Rinko tells Kirito that Alice has gotten lost and makes a request of him. He decides to meet her at Rath in hopes of receiving a Rath-branded package at his front door.
He opens the carton, to Alice’s surprise, and manages to pull her inside. When they realize she is ready, they proceed to the class dojo to battle. Alice gets an email from the Underworld that seems suspicious. It all comes to a head at Rath, when Alice, Kazuto, Asuna, and the rest of the cast critically evaluate their concepts.
Subsequently, we see that Ronnie and Teese’s offspring have been constantly dispersed by an alien monster known as the Abyssal Horror. They are defeated by the planes, and Kirito and the others rush in to do their killing.
After Kirito and the others defeated the beast, the descendants were treated to a feast prepared by the Star prince and princess and the Integrity Knight, Alice. When the final credits roll, they’ll have arrived at Cardina.

It has been agreed that the fifth season of the show would be made available on Netflix, but no specific date has been set as of yet.
