The Apple TV Plus sci-fi comedy-drama Severance Season 2 is already getting close to its official release date as filming for the second season is already well underway. What is ahead for the inner workings of the enigmatic Lumon office? Below is what we currently know.
Severance dailies are beginning to arrive, carrying the key to the show’s mystery box ending after a dramatic season one finale, even though a season 2 trailer has not yet been released.
The cast and crew of Severance have had a lot of success thus far; they walked the red carpet at the 2023 Golden Globes, and awards season has seen a lot of interviews with the show’s leading actors who have all started to reveal more information about season 2 of Severance and give us a taste of the tone and direction the show is about to take.
Severance Season 2 Release Date
Most definitely has. The weird office thriller will return for a second season, Apple TV+ assured fans in a formal press release in April. Director and executive producer Ben Stiller said, “It’s really exciting to see the response from people who are loving the show—and the level of fan engagement.
It has been a long road bringing Severance to television. I first read Dan’s pilot over five years ago. It has always been a multi-season story, and I’m really happy we get to continue it.”
Matt Cherniss, who’s the head of programming for Apple TV+, also said, “Severance has imagined an existence that‘s equal parts riveting and enthralling as viewers around the globe can’t get enough of these rich characters. We’re excited to go deeper into this wholly unique world and unpack more layers of Lumon in season two.”

Severance Season 2 Cast
The primary cast, which includes Adam Scott, Britt Lower, and John Turturo, will return in the upcoming season. Eight new cast members, some of whom you might recognize, will nonetheless be joining them for season two.
Gwendoline Christie from Game of Thrones and Merritt Wever from Godless is joining the cast, in addition to Bob Balaban, Alia Shawkat, Robby Benson, Stefano Carannante, lafur Darri lafsson, and John Noble, according to Deadline.
Ben Stiller and Dan Erickson, the executive producers of Severance, sat down with The Hollywood Reporter in August 2022 and revealed a few suggestions for their ideal guest stars.
Someone like Christopher Guest, for example, makes Stiller think, “Wow, that would be fantastic if someday he might be a part of the program.” It’s wonderful to have a show like this that enables viewers to join in for one or two episodes while also fitting within the Severance universe.
Erickson, though, wanted to approach former president Barack Obama at the 2022 Emmys in an effort to persuade him to make a brief cameo appearance in the show. If he is present, he said, “I’m going to ask him if he wants a part in this show.” I believe he would be excellent and provide gravitas.
Severance Season 2 Plot
Season two’s story hasn’t yet been disclosed, but the show’s creator Dan Erickson did give fans a little peek at what to anticipate at the 2022 Comic-Con panel. He explained that the new season will be all about building out the world a little bit more, and with this tweak to reality, what the ramifications would be. Another plus? Erickson confirmed that fans will also get some clarity on what those goats really mean.
