Silent Witness’s season 26 features a number of new recruits to the Lyell team as well as many well-known actors playing captivating guest roles, but who will actually be joining the cast for episodes 1 and 2?
The 26th season of Silent Witness has arrived, with Emilia Fox as Dr. Nikki Alexander once more. Wow, the first two parts of the plot are really dark! Following the wildly successful 25th anniversary special series, the new season puts Nikki and Jack in jeopardy as they take on a sizable criminal organization.
That featured the return of the show’s original actress Amanda Burton as Sam Ryan, a character who was formerly adored but displayed increasingly strange behavior during the most recent series!
The second two-part story follows the previous two-part story and involves the discovery of an abandoned truck at a quarry that had several dead and dying persons inside.
It initially seems like a case of sex trafficking, but it quickly becomes apparent that nothing is quite as it seems. Nikki and the crew must use their pathological and forensic expertise to identify the deceased and piece together what happened because the survivors are reluctant to speak.

The first episode’s premise has now been revealed by the BBC, who stated that the Lyell team is “dragged into the criminal underworld of a notorious mafia group, the “Ndrangheta”,” when a man falls from a high-rise building.

Nikki and the team set out to find the truth with assistance from the National Crime Agency (NCA). Nikki quickly becomes more and more entangled in the mafia’s web as they delve farther into the murky depths of the inquiry.

“I couldn’t be more thrilled to be joining such a venerable and well-liked series,” says Aki. Although Gabriel has much less hands-on experience than Nikki and would rather use a computer to simulate an autopsy than cut open a body, he knows deep down that he needs people like Nikki and Jack. He needs to evolve, open himself up more, and allow himself to be more vulnerable at this point in his life.

As suggested by Clarissa Mullery, Alastair Michael (Ridley Road, Snatch) starts as Velvy Schur’s new APT (Anatomical Pathology Technologist) trainee.
After recently leaving his ultra-Orthodox Jewish community, Velvy is now pursuing his own interests while juggling his profession and his religion, which he still holds in the highest regard.
“I’m thrilled to be joining the Silent Witness cast,” says Alastair. We first meet Velvy, a character I created, as he is embarking on a fascinating trip from an Orthodox enclave into a largely secular society. He is still getting used to the shift and is conflicted about the life he left behind, but he is excited to learn new things and make new friends.
Sometimes his curiosity gets the better of him, and it could even make some people uncomfortable. Thus, it will be interesting to observe how that develops in Lyell. Rhiannon May’s Cara Connelly, Jack’s niece, also makes a comeback in a more prominent role.
