Ever puzzled why a new K-POP song sounds similar after hearing it? Several of the most prominent groups’ songs have been reimagined versions of earlier classics. The following six popular K-POP songs have been remade:

Candy – NCT Dream

Original 1996:

The sixth EP from NCT Dream, titled “Candy,” due out on December 16, 2022, features a version of the classic song by H.O.T. A survey conducted by MTV Korea determined that H.O.T.’s Candy was the most well-liked song in South Korea in 1996.

The bubblegum pop song by the idol group H.O.T., which featured dance, rap, and fashion, had a significant impact. At the time, H.O.T. was in the vanguard of establishing a new style of popular music in South Korea.

“Candy” reached the top of several charts, including the Melon, Bugs, and Vibe TOP100 charts, thanks to NCT Dream’s wintery rendition in their colors.

Dreams Come True – Aespa

Original 1998:

Aespa’s track “Dreams Come True,” which was released on December 20, 2021, is a remake of the famous song from 1998 by its label senior S.E.S. Several girl group idols have sung S.E.S.’s “Dreams Come True,” which is a licensed remix of the Finnish hit song “Like a Fool.”

The song’s production and choreography were both done by singer BoA. The R&B and modern interpretation of “Dreams Come True” by Aespa was a significant hit with listeners.

Come Back Home – BTS

Original 1996:

On July 5, 2017, BTS made a version of the ground-breaking hit song “Come Back Home” by Seo Taiji and Boys. BTS members RM and J-Hope penned the lyrics and reworked the beat for Seo Taiji and Boys’ 1996 hit “Come Back Home” along with Seo Taiji.

The original song and BTS’s rendition discussed social issues and discussed current subjects during their releases. BTS demonstrated its hip-hop skills by giving this classic K-POP song its spin. This was well appreciated, and BTS was subsequently requested to perform at Seo Taiji’s performance in 2017.

Listen to my World (A-ing) – Oh My Girl

Original 2000:

The girl group, Papaya’s hit song from the 2000s, was remade for the August 1, 2016, release of Oh My Girl’s single, “Listen to My World (A-ing). The group’s version of Oh My Girl featured their powerful voices and a brand-new rap composed by group member Mimi.

Skull and Haha, two reggae and rap singers, were also featured in this rendition. “Listen to My World (A-ing)” by Oh My Girl reached its highest point on the Gaon chart.

Precious Love – Twice

Original 1998:

The single “Precious Love” by Twice is a B-side from their second EP, “Page Two,” which helped them go from promising newcomers to a successful girl group. This song, which debuted on April 25, 2016, is a remake of Park Ji-1998 Yoon’s single, also written by J.Y. Park.

The Twice rendition has a new rap stanza written by group member Chaeyoung and their sweet vocals. Although this B-side song is less well-known than Twice’s smash singles, it is an excellent recreation of a timeless hit.

Be Natural – Red Velvet

Original 2000:

A version of the 2000 hit song “Be Natural” by the venerable girl group S.E.S., Red Velvet “Be Natural,” was released on October 13, 2014. Red Velvet’s first song under the “Velvet” concept was darker and sexier than their previous cheerful “Red” pop releases, and fans loved the contrast. NCT Taeyong, then known as SR14B’s Taeyong, was featured on Red Velvet’s “Be Natural” at the time.
