Sonic Prime 3D: On Thursday, Netflix released a new video and image from Sonic Prime, a 3D animated series based on the Sonic the Hedgehog property by Wild Brain Studios and published by Sega.
One 40-minute episode and seven shorter episodes of Sonic Prime will premiere on December 15. The Vancouver studio of WildBrain Ltd. had previously stated that it will animate a total of 24 episodes, however, as of now, that number is unknown.
Showrunners and executive producers will come from Man of Action Entertainment (Ben 10, Big Hero 6), while production, distribution, and licencing will be handled by Sega and WildBrain, respectively. Netflix has hinted that Sonic will be exploring a “weird new multiverse” in an upcoming narrative.
Sonic will go on a mission to preserve the world while also going on a personal quest for atonement. The hedgehog Shadow will also be featured. A new voice for Sonic has been cast, and it’s Deven Mack. You may get a sneak peek at the otherworldly plot and characters in the video below.

Mack has confirmed that all of Sonic’s previous voice performers from video games and movies will continue to do so. The Mega Man (Rockman) video game series Mega Man: Fully Charged was a collaboration between Wild Brain Studios and Man of Action Entertainment.

According to Box Office Mojo, Sonic the Hedgehog 2’s opening day domestic gross was an estimated $26.5 million. The film was released in theatres on April 8. It made an estimated US$70 million overseas and US$141 million overall in its first weekend.

In February, Paramount Pictures announced that production on a third Sonic the Hedgehog film and the franchise’s first live-action television series had begun. Idris Elba will reprise his role as Knuckles from Sonic the Hedgehog 2 in the next live-action series, which will premiere on Paramount Pictures’ Paramount+ streaming service in 2023.
Sonic Frontiers, developed and published by Sega, was released on November 8 for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and personal computers (through Steam). On November 1, Sega uploaded the animated Sonic Frontiers Prologue trailer to YouTube.
